Aloy Ejimakor, Special counsel to leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused the Nigerian government and its Kenyan counterpart of violating international law over the agitator’s arrest.

The counsel stated this while quoting an international law via his Twitter handle.

He said the two African countries cannot claim ignorance of the law.

“A state shall provide for all individuals that it wishes to transfer to the custody of another state an effective, independent, impartial and individualized judicial oversight prior to transfer.

“Nigeria and Kenya are state parties to this law. Yet, they chose to break it,” Ejimakor wrote.

Kanu was rearrested and repatriated from an African country believed to be Kenya.

He had escaped Nigeria in 2017 after being granted bail by an Abuja Federal High Court following the invasion of his country home by soldiers.

Kanu is standing trial for treason over his agitation for the actualization of Biafra.
