The All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to introduce China’s Communist Party’s method of fighting corruption in Nigeria.
The national chairman of the Party Chief John Oyegun, said that APC government has a lot to learn from the Peoples Republic of China, particularly on the fight against corruption and the dead infrastructural development.
Oyegun believed that given the vast population of China, the country has been able to organised its fight against corruption to “the level of relative poverty is virtually non existence.”
Speaking at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja during the visit of the out-going Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie, Oyegun said the positive result of the recent visit to China by President Muhammadu Buhari, will soon manifest in Nigeria.
According to him, APC has a great respect for the Peoples Republic. “On the party to party basis, we have listened to you and accept your offer and I can tell you we are going to take it up, even if only to come and learn how you have managed the menace of corruption which you are dealing with strictly, we read about this development everyday, and if only, given the kind of population you have, you have been able to organised in such a way that you have raised the standard of living of that vast population in such that the level of relative poverty is virtually non existence.
“So, we have a lot of lesson to learn from you as a party, so that we too can learn from your experience and be able to pull ourselves up like China also did,” Oyegun said.
On the recent visit to China by President Buhari, the national chairman said: “I must say that the result of the visit of our president was something that has given us a lot of joy because substantial agreements were recorded which in the next few months, knowing China as a very serious country, they make commitment and fulfill them, as soon as our budget comes on stream, we’ll be able to see the practical results on ground particular in the area of infrastructure and Agriculture.”
Earlier, the out-going Ambassador said ever since APC came into power in Nigeria, the Communist party of China has expressed readiness to work with Nigeria in the area of experience sharing.
“The Chinese government and the people, we are ready to working very closely with Nigeria in implementing policy initiatives that exist between the two countries and others we may identify like exchange of views on governance and party to party relations between APC and the Communist Party of China.
“And also in some other areas of economic aspect like Agriculture and energy sectors. These are areas the Chinese government and the Chinese business community will be working on here in Nigeria.
“Ever since APC won the election last year, Chinese Communist party has expressed it’s readiness to work with APC in areas like experience sharing and capacity building.”
