YOLA — Former Adamawa State Governor, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, has departed Yola for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, following the formal acceptance of his nomination form to contest the 2027 governorship election.

His departure marks the beginning of a high-stakes consultative phase as he prepares to lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) challenge against the state’s traditional political powers.

A Formal Return to the Race

The journey to Abuja follows a successful political event in Yola on Monday, May 11, where Bindow officially accepted the nomination form purchased for him by loyalists. Standing before a crowd of supporters at his Dougirei residence, the former governor confirmed his return to the frontlines of Adamawa politics under the banner of the ADC.

“The public will be duly informed of His Excellency’s next political engagements and subsequent activities following the formal acceptance, as consultations and strategic engagements continue,” stated Shamsudeen Ibrahim, New Media Aide to the former governor.

Airport Diplomacy

Before boarding his flight at the Lamido Aliyu Mustapha International Airport, Senator Bindow was seen exchanging pleasantries with Senator Aminu Iya Abbas. While the encounter appeared casual, political observers in the state are keen to see how Bindow’s move to the ADC will influence the current legislative and executive balance in Adamawa.

The “Third Force” Momentum

Bindow’s entry into the ADC fold has solidified the party’s position as a major “third force” in Adamawa. His move follows the recent registration of other political heavyweights in the party, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani.

With the slogan “Back to serve, better to deliver,” the Bindow camp is positioning the former governor as an experienced alternative to the ruling PDP and his former party, the APC.

As the Senator lands in Abuja, his itinerary is expected to include meetings with national ADC leadership and key regional stakeholders to finalize the roadmap for his 2027 campaign.
