The People’s Democratic Party in Imo state has frowned at President Muhammadu Buhari for his silence over the plot to assassinate Ikenga Ugochinyere by men alleged to be loyal to the imo state state government.

The party in a statement by its publicity secretary Collins Opurozu alleged that three attempts have been made on the live of it’s candidate for Ideato Federal Constituency by the Imo state government
Earlier today reports from Ideato claim that gunmen armed with explosives and other weapons attacked the home of Ikenga Ugochinyere the third time in two months
According to the statement the attackers were members of the state-backed Ebubeagu Militia Force who were said to have been stationed in Akokwa, just recently.
“This latest attack, apart from its core objective to assassinate Ikenga Ugochinyere, was also contrived to intimidate his supporters and weaken the resolve of Ideato people who are fully determined to elect Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere as member of the House of Representatives at the polls on February 25th, 2023” the statement said.
“Recall that on December 23, 2022, the convoy of Ikenga was attacked as he returned home from Abuja, and he narrowly escaped death. On January 14, 2023, Ikenga’s residence in Umukegwu-Akokwa witnessed a bloody onslaught that left three persons, including his uncle, dead, thirty-two vehicles burnt to ashes and buildings levelled to the ground with explosives.”
There are no report of any casualties in today’s attacks
Ugochinyere incurred the wrath of the Imo state government after he exposed the widespread compromise of the INEC voter register. This is what is now known as the Omuma Magic. Days after the revelation an appointee of the state government Chinasa Nwaneri, threatened to deal with him whenever he would be sighted in Imo State.
Imo PDP call on President Buhari to call the Imo state governor to order and allow the people of Ideato to decide who they want to vote for
Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) says political parties in the country favours no further extension of the window for the swap of old naira notes through the commercial banks, urging the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to set up mechanism for mopping up old naira note in the hands of rural dwellers after the February 10, 2023 deadline.

In a statement issued in Abuja by the CNPP Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu, umbrella body all registered political parties and political association said that “only politicians who have perfected plans to buy votes with the old notes are clamouring for further extension of the deadline for old naira note swap.”
The CNPP was reacting to the resolution by 14 political parties threatening to withdraw from the 2023 general elections if there was further extension of the swap deadline and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory’s restraining order on President Muhammadu Buhari, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and 27 commercial banks from suspending the currency redesign policy of the federal government.
Justice Eneojo Eneche of the FCT High Court had in a ruling on an ex parte application brought by four political parties against the government and 27 commercial banks in the country, restrained the respondents from further extending the old naira notes swap deadline.
Urging Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used by corrupt and desperate politicians who do not mean well for the country, the CNPP argued that “the long term gains of the naira redesign policy and the entire cashless policy of the federal government outweigh any short term pain.
“Therefore, we urge the masses to bear with the federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria as efforts are ongoing to overcome the current plot to sabotage the policy.
“We have seen the efforts of security and anti-graft agencies in arresting the economic saboteurs collaborating with a few unpatriotic politicians who are desperate to buy votes with the old notes by insisting on endless extension of the swap deadline.
“Their move to frustrate President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s cashless policy and its attendant benefits to the economy remains consistent with their intention to derail the 2023 general elections if they cannot buy votes or manipulate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do their bidding.
“The same elements had moved to remove the INEC Chairman for insisting on deploying technology for the conduct of the 2023 general elections, especially the use of the BVAS machines which are currently being reconfigured to ensure that over-voting in polling units is permanently eliminated, making rigging and ballot box stuffing a thing of the past.
“The CNPP calls on all well-meaning Nigerians, Civil Society Organisations, and patriots to remain resolute in the current fight for the soul of Nigeria through free, fair, and credible elections.
“Nigerian youths must be assured that once the right leadership is voted at all levels, the current pains and hardship will eventually become a tale of the past.
“It is time for the people to take their destinies in their hands. We stand with the order of Justice Eneojo Eneche restraining the federal government, CBN and commercial banks from, “stopping, extending or interfering with the currency redesign terminal date of February 10 or issue any directive contrary to the February 10 date.”
“The CNPP hereby urges the CBN to devise means of mopping up old notes from the rural communities in event that some rural farmers in the unbanked villages were unable to swap their old naira notes by February 10 deadline.
“Individuals and organisations who are unable to swap their old naira notes after the deadline should take their old notes to the CBN offices for exchange with the new notes at their face value as directed by the CBN”, the CNPP stated.
Prophet Ikenna Ezejiaku, General Overseer of Mountain of Yahweh Synagogue Church, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta state has at last fled Delta state and ran to Anambra state, his own state of origin for the safety of his life and that of his family members.
Loading ...
This followed a serious threat he alleged to have received from a billionaire businessman from Ibusa, Chief Fred Ajudua and his suspected thugs.
Speaking to newsmen at his home town, Umuhu village, Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state where he had run for safety, Ezejiaku said he was forced to relocate to Okija with his family members as a result of the volume of threat issued to him by Ajudua and those he identified as his thugs.
According to the Prophet, “before now, I did not have anything in common with Ajudua. I am from Okija in Anambra state and he is from Ibusa in Delta state. It is just that about 15 years ago, I bought some plots of land at Okpanam in Delta state, built a residential home and also erected some structures therein to establish my synagogue”.
Because the plots of land which I bought directly from their owners measuring 100 x 100 feet each, I still had enough space left to build a cathedral and other structures for my synagogue after building my residential home in a corner and some temporary structures where I am presently using as my church and a prayer house, pending when I will get some money to erect a cathedral.
But sometime in 2015, Ajudua stormed the synagogue with those I suspected to be his thugs and demanded that I should pay him N10 million for each of the plots or be prepared to vacate the land for him because according to him, the land belongs to him and his kinsmen from Ibusa.
Initially, I took Ajudua’s threat to be a joke because I knew that he is from Ibusa, while I acquired the land genuinely from its rightful owners who are from Okpanam. So, I ignored the threat on the ground that I didn’t have the money to give to him.
But to my chagrin, he stormed my church again late last year with those suspected thugs and a caterpillar and started pulling down all the structures I erected as my prayer houses, including my gigantic church hall which had reached to a lintel level as at then.
“As if that was not enough, Ajudua hired some labourers and started digging foundation on top of the demolished church hall and above all threatened to eliminate me if he dares see me there the next time he would visit the place by himself”.
“At this stage, I had to flee Okpanam to Okija, my home town because an adage says it is only a tree that will hear that it would be cut down and still stand the same place”.
“I have reported this matter to the Delta State Police Command and the police summoned Ajudua who came and told the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, one Supol Duru of the state X-Squad that the land belonged to him and to Ibusa people and not Okpanam people”.
*Ajudua further told the police that Ibusa people have a Supreme Court judgement in their possession against Okpanam people many yduears ago with respect to the land but when the police asked him to produce a certified true copy of the supreme court judgement as an evidence, he could not do so for a reason best known to him”.
He said he had equally written a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, the Director General of DSS and other relevant agencies to come to his rescue as according to him, he was reliably informed by the neighborhood that Ajudua had assigned his suspected thugs to monitor his whereabout regularly and report back to him for prompt action.
But in a brief reaction, Ajudua told newsmen on phone that he does not even know anybody by that name Prophet Ikenna Ezejiaku not to talk of taking over his landed property from him.
According to Ajudua, “I don’t know anybody answering Prophet Ezejiaku and I didn’t take any body’s land. However, if anyone said I took his or her land forcefully, he or she should feel free to go to the court or to the police to recover it from me. That is the much I can say for now”.
He however admitted that he tried to recover a communal land from those who acquired them wrongly.
Meantime, Awele Sawyer, one of those from Okpanam who claimed ownership of the land and who admitted transferring the deed of ownership to Prophet Ezejiaku, said Ajudua has no business foisting himself into the land.
Sawyer who stated that the location of the land in question is very far from the boundary between Okpanam and Ibusa, adding that Ajudua is just holding his shoulder high because he has his wife as a member of Delta state House of Assembly and an In-law who is in charge of the state Ministry of Lands.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officet ber, PPRO, Bright Edafe, told newsmen on phone that though he was not yet aware of the matter, if the case has actually been reported to the police, it must be properly investigated.
The People’s Democratic Party PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has explained that said if elected, he would ensure the full exploration of the oil in the north for the benefit of humanity, development of the North and Nigeria as a whole.

Rampaging Anaku youths, in the early hours of Monday, February 6, invaded Omor community in Ayamelum local government area of Anambra state and allegedly killed eight indigenes, including a woman.

The youths, allegedly led by one Nnamdi Maneke (aka Vulture), according to eyewitnesses, were also said to have abducted six other young men from Omor Town, and allegedly took them to a notorious shrine in Anaku community.
The source stated that the whereabouts of the abducted Omor youths are yet unknown as at Tuesday when newsmen visited the troubled area.
it was further discovered that the area was deserted, as residents fled in droves for fear of further attacks, while a combined team of police and military personnel were drafted seen patrolling both sides.
A community leader, who gave his name as Hon. Peter Emeka, told confirmed to newsmen that the attackers, who he claimed were youths of neighbouring Anaku community, in the same council area, were said to have arrived in several motorcycles, and shot sporadically before directly aiming at people and shooting them on sight.
Emeka further alleged that the rampaging Anaku youth leader Nnamdi Maneke aka Vulture, whom he described as “a dreaded bandit”, with his gang members, masterminded the attack.
He said, “Nnamdi Maneke is a notorious criminal in Anaku community. He has been terrorizing communities in Ayamelum; especially Omor.
“When he arrived on Monday the 6th of February, 2023 with his gang members, many people in our community identified him; because, he is notorious in unleashing mayhem on people; including setting people’s houses on fire whenever he is provoked. He brandishes AK49 at will; even before law enforcement agencies.”
He gave names of victims of the latest attack to include: Chibuko Anekwe, Johnson Chigbata, Esther Nwankwo, Iloabuchi Okonkwo, Chinedu Ogwuejiifor, Chibueze Okoye, and others; adding that their bodies were deposited in two separate mortuaries.
When some elders of Omor community took our correspondent to the mortuaries, where bodies of the victims were kept, it was discovered that 5 bodies were deposited in Nigro Mortuary, Omor, while 3 bodies were deposited in St. Mary’s Hospital mortuary, Ifite-Ogwari, also in Ayamelum LGA.
When contacted, the traditional ruler of Omor, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Oranu Chidume, said the attack came as a surprise to him, as he just had peace meeting with leaders of Anaku; the neighbouring town that has been having issues with his community for a long time.
He said, “I can recall that we have held a couple of peace meetings, and my people are very keen in seeing that peace reigns between us and our neighbours. In the most recent meeting were the leader of Anaku community, Barr Anthony Ifeanya, who is the current Commissioner for Petroleum Resources in Anambra; Chief Livinus Onyenwe, who is the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum; as well as Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, who is the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, and member representing Ayamelum Constituency.
“The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that there was lasting peace between Omor and Anaku. The meeting was fruitful, and we agreed to work together and do all that we can to ensure that there is peace; and that is why Monday invasion came as a surprise to me.
The monarch called on Governor Charles Soludo, as well as the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng; to act fast and bring the culprits to justice. He noted that if something is not done fast, the situation may degenerate.
He also called on the Ayamelum Leaders of Thought, who he said, have been on the matter for long, to rise up to the occasion because of the need to find lasting solution to the menace.
He said, “Everybody knows that this is not the first of such incidents that Omor people are suffering in the hands of Anaku youths. Many of this have happened in the past without any repercussions on the perpetrators, and it has happened yet again.
We are, therefore, calling on the government of Anambra state to act swiftly and decisively.”
When contacted, the leader of Anaku community, Barr. Tony Ifeanya also confirmed the development; but said that the perpetrators were not sent by Anaku community.
Ifeanya, who acknowledged that a young man from Anaku community, by the nickname “Vulture”, has been terrorizing the area, unleashing mayhem on people together with his gang members, said that the young man was acting on whatever reason known to him; but not on the instance of Anaku town.
He said, “Our community is also looking for him everywhere to arrest him. Whenever we get hold of him, we’ll hand him over to government for necessary action. Our community, and Ayamelum people are already tired of him.”
Also contacted, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum LGA, Chief Livinus Onyenwe, confirmed the attack.
According to him, “Yes, terrorist leader from Anaku attacked Omor people. We call it terrorist attack because, the young man in question has been going about terrorizing people. He went to Omor town and killed people numbering 8 or more; because, there are others in the hospital, whose survival are unsure.
“We made necessary calls, and joint team of police and army went there, but were unable to subdue him. We are looking up to the joint team to get him down; but on the event where they cannot do so within a reasonable time, we shall devise alternative means to get him.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga had earlier confirmed the incident on Monday and explained that the command had deployed a combined team of policemen and soldiers to the area to bring the situation under control.
The Anambra State Police Command has launched manhunt for one Mr. Nnamdi Maduneke and his cohorts, over the recent resumption of an age-old land disputes between Omor and Anaku communities in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state, which led to the murder of six persons and injuring of two others.
It would be recalled that there was a re-brewed crisis in the two rural communities on Monday.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, in which he also said the Command has launched a manhunt for some of the people
According to the statement, Mr. Nnamdi Maduneke and his cohorts, without any provocation, stormed Omor community with AK47 in the early hours of the day and started shooting indiscriminately, which led to the death of, at least, six persons.
He also said the Joint Task Force Team, comprising police and military, has been deployed to the area, and further attested that the presence of the security forces has reinforced the security of life and properties and enhanced the provision of law and order in the area.
“Preliminary information reveals that the cause of the incident is a protracted existing communal dispute between the two communities, Omor and Anaku in Anyamelum LGA.
“Meanwhile, patrols/operations are still ongoing and the situation is being monitored. Further developments shall be communicated, please,” Ikenga said.
According Kwame Nkrumah” Seek thee the political kingdom and all other things shall be added unto thee”. This popular quote from a great Pan-Africanist Nkrumah, I am sure he was inspired by Master Jesus Christ who said “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all other things shall be added unto you”.

It’s now obvious to us that we have a government and leaders who do not obey the rule of law. In fact, our politicians from president to House of Assembly are like the men in George Orwell’s ‘Animals Farm’. Those who make the Law are also the same persons destroying the Law; those voted to protect and execute the Law are destroying the Law all by themselves. Unfortunately, we have these political animal species that amount to nothing in Igbo land, (the Efulefu)
It’s shameful that we have Governors in SouthEast that are not bold enough to approach President Mohammadu Buhari and ask him to obey Court order to release Nnamdi Kanu.
We have a set of cowards at National Assembly, both Senate and Federal House of Representatives who have meet not and make a moves to query Buhari on why he can not obey court order to release Nnamdi Kanu conditionally.
We have never-do-well house of Assembly members in SouthEast; people endowed with zero integrity, who are only good at conspiring with State Governors to loot state funds, none has assembled to ask Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu.
Governors, Senators Federal house of Representatives and State House of Assembly of South-East extraction are keeping mute on the release of Nnamdi Kanu, but their utmost interest is to win the next election. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s interest is to go Senate, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s interest is go to Senate, Governor David Umahi interest is to go Senate, why current Senators, Federal House of Assembly members and State House of Assembly members’ interest is to remain in power.
You can see now that the survival of Ndigbo is never in their agenda, over two years now, insecurity, killing and maiming of Ndigbo is reigning, none of these politicians from South-east extraction has uttered any word so far in that regard.
Remember, South-East politicians’ children are not here with us, many of them have dual citizenship either American citizenship or United Kingdom citizenship.
Verily I say unto us all, Ndigbo, there must be a harvest of new LEADERS in Igboland if we Must survive and regain our freedom. We must retire all Igbo criminal politicians, and send new breeds who are ready to defend us holistically. The issue of ‘Biafra’s Referendum’ at Nigeria Assembly should not only be discussed on the street, self-determination is part of human fundamental rights, it’s not a crime. Therefore Self-determination of Indigenous People of Biafra must be discussed at National Assembly, that’s how it been done all over the world.
We must Ensure that those candidates the various present criminal Governors in Abia, Enugu, and Ebonyi have selfishly anointed for 2023 Guber elections will not smell power. This means we must use every political exploration to ensure that PDP fails Guber election in Enugu, because Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will produce someone more incompetent and wicked than he is; APC must fail Guber election in Ebonyi, because David Umahi must produce someone more deadly than him and PDP must be humiliated in Abia, because Okezie Ikpeazu must definitely produce another prodigal Governor like him. Let’s stop the oppressors in Igbo land, this is the simple first step of taking back AlaIgbo, this a necessary step for Igbo liberation and a Walk into freedom. I passionately advise UMUCHINEKE that Freedom is not just a song by mere singing about it, if freedom is ordinary Song, Bob Marley and Lucky Dube would have been a seperate country.
We must democratically recapture SouthEast for Ndigbo in this 2023 election, and send political criminals to Exile through ballots revolution.
It is, therefore, very expedient and unavoidable that “EVERY NWACHINEKE” must vote, to elect a new government with the face of human, and unlike the current government both at state and federal level that have the face of a “BEAST”. Had it been we have a responsible, reasonable and reliable Governors, Senators, Reps. members and State House of Assembly members from South-east extraction they could have mount pressure on the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu. Had it been we have a government with the face of human at the federal level, they could have obeyed court order and released Nnamdi Kanu months ago.
Ndigbo, I urge you to see 2023 as “Operation Recapture AlaIgbo from Political Gangsters, Looters and Criminals; we shall vote en masse and follow our votes from polling units, collection Centers, LGA and State. Let’s take back, Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi State.
Any agents of riggers by criminals politicians to keep us in perpetual slavery must be resisted by every means necessary. I therefore, call on UMUCHINEKE and Ndigbo all over the world, States, Local Governments, Wards, Communities, Villages, Kindreds and families to be on guard.
Those who want to rig election and make us remain political slaves to Britain and their cohorts fulani Oligarchy must utterly receive our resistance, it must be “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth”. Get ready for “Egwu Surugedee” at all polling units, Evil men shall not strive in our Land again.
Undoubtedly, 2023 is the a last political tournament for Ndigbo, the outcome of the 2023 general election will determine the “Fate” of Ndigbo in Nigeria’s political project.
The best questions for Ndigbo in 2023 election are; who are we sending as Governor in Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi? Who are we sending as Senators and House of Representatives at National Assembly? Who are we sending in various State House of Assembly? It would not be like those shenanigans in Imo state House of Assembly that rejected Local Government Autonomy, such political elements can reject referendum if it’s present on the floor of the house.
UMUCHINEKE and Ndigbo must understand that most of these political cartels and criminals are all littered in APC and PDP, but let’s not forgot that a large number of them have taken refuge in Labour Party, thinking that they can climb on the back of Mr. Peter Obi to win Governorship, Senatorial, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections. At the appropriate time we will smoke out political criminals in Labour Party, we will seperate the corn from chaff.
We must get rid of political oppressors, Vampires, cannibals, shenanigans, prodigals, Saboteurs in Southeast, between February and March, 2023. We must perform the funeral of these political gangster blowing sarien here and there with our PVC.
The first step of political and economic freedom of Ndigbo is to uproot these political criminals, they are our real enemies not Hausa/Fulani, ( maka na “O bu Oke di n’Ulo gwara Oke di na-ama na Azu di na Ngiga). The enemy internal is more dangerous than enemies external. The protracted evil perpetrated against Ndigbo is masterminded by Igbo politicians, and if we refused to deal with them, other tribes would not respect us nor would they ever be deal with us with some decorum. We apparently will perpetually remain a vulnerable nation. In my findings 75% marginalization against Ndigbo are done by Igbo politicians, while 25% is from federal government, let’s deal with the 75% criminals in Igbo before we blame federal government.
Nigeria is negotiable! Therefore, Ndigbo must vote people who will negotiate the existence of this contraption called Nigeria!
UMUCHINEKE let’s hold our peace, let’s be on guard in case of any uncertainty via 2023 election. Let’s vote out this present beast government and elect government that will obey Court Orders.
At the appropriate time, Ohanaeze Youth Council we make a declaration and publish list of reasonable IGBOS whom we shall entrust with power in 2023 election from House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and Governors. It shall be called the “List Of Nwafor Igbo”.
Nwachineke and Ezigbo nwafo Igbo let me end my Epistle with the statement of my fellow philosopher, King Plato, who rightly quoted and i concur:
“One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors”.
If we refuse to participate” EFULEFU’s” will emerge as Igbo leaders.
I am Igboayaka O Igboayaka,
National President Ohanaeze Youth Council OYC.
Clearly, the love Nigerians have for Bola Tinubu obliterates the hatred which anybody may possess for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Otherwise, his recent visit to Osun State wouldn’t have been such a huge success. To this end, the immediate past Governor Gboyega Oyetola and other members of the party in the state deserve commendation for the laudable feat of February 2, 2023.

Well, the general belief is that politicians will always come up with promises but, at the end of the day, nothing happens. Be that as it may, what Tinubu said in Osun brought along with it a higher level of believability. Of course, this has to do with his antecedents. Talking about issues like ‘changing the direction of the economy’; ‘creating jobs’; and ‘ASUU never to be on strike again’, the truth is that Tinubu has been to the university and he has seen how the system operates. In the realm of commerce, the former governor of Lagos State is no doubt a guru. So, he knew what he’s talking about! The presidential candidate also said he would establish industries in each of the six geopolitical zones to create employment opportunities in those localities without our young adults necessarily having to run to Lagos or Abuja to seek imaginary employment opportunities. Surely, any government that does that successfully will discourage rural-urban drift.
With regard to Tinubu’s opponents in the contest, what Nigerians should look for is what they have done. By this, we mean their antecedents. Since little is known about the involvement of the other presidential flag-bearers in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria, let the “accidental democrats” come forward and show Nigerians their credentials and, indeed, what they have done for dear country now that democratic structure is in place.
Tinubu’s visit to Osun is expected to help at resolving the lingering crises within the APC family in the state. Deploying his mighty influence and political balancing will be of great advantage to the party in the coming general elections. Besides, the senseless display of gangsterism by some followers of different factions will be appeased. The loopholes discovered in the last governorship election are also expected to be blocked with all sincerity and sense of sacrifice. These in my personal opinion should be the inestimable benefits from the visit of the Asiwaju of Lagos and his presidential campaign team to the state. After all, the ‘Jagaban of Borgu’ is a voice that can’t be neglected, even by his ardent haters and negative propagandists.
In fairness to posterity, one issue that must be pointed out is that Osun APC is still burdened by inexplicable divisions, avoidable crises and self-inflicted conflicts. And that’s what makes it impossible for former Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Oyetola, his successor in office, to reconcile. Truth be told, the town is not smiling even as poverty is playing a major role. Everybody is poor; and everybody wants to be rich. Therefore, nobody wants to listen to the party. Since the party is also inanimate, zero emotion is emitted. That’s why those who want to scrape the remaining milk are always taking sides needlessly! The more reason the feuding leaders in Osun APC must start eating ‘amala’ and ‘gbegiri’ from the same plate; and Nigerians must see it to be so! If the party structure is intact, then, no individual is bigger than the party. Therefore, to say that Aregbesola has (his) followership, and Oyetola has (his) followership – in the same party; and in the same state – is an anathema to democratic norms. So, let the party tread the path of caution!
In the considered opinion of yours sincerely, loyalty to a single person in a party is a recipe for chaos. So, it’s mandatory for members to give absolute loyalty to the party. While preference for an individual’s profile in the party may differ from one person to the other, loyalty to the party is ultimately supreme. Otherwise, the party will collapse like a pack of cards; because the loyalty web is the central nerve of any political party. It is actually what holds a party together! That’s how our founding fathers left it! Indeed, that’s why people had to agree with the late Obafemi Awolowo even when his decisions might not be sitting well with their personal beliefs and/or interests. Again, that’s why you’d never see a party man like Lateef Jakande saying that he’d not accept Awo’s decision.
A lot of people learnt so much from Mahtma Ghandi that, long after Ghandi has gone, Ghandhism continues to wax stronger. Ditto for Chairman Mao Tse-Tung! On the contrary, Nigerians are so unreal that they embrace the show but reject the nitty-gritty of the drama presentation. Through interpretive understanding of symbolic interactionism, ‘Awoists’, so called, often wear ‘Awo cap’ to deceive the people; but not a bit of Awo’s character.
Awolowo raised leaders that were younger than him; some of whom, today, are setting the pace globally. Likewise, Tinubu has raised leaders, some of whom are not only better than him but also overtaking him while he is alive. Again, sad that Awoism as a concept was never defined. Otherwise, the likes of Ebenezer Babatope wouldn’t have become a political butterfly, searching for the proverbial nectar hither and thither! Well, the truth of the matter is that, once a journalist features a politician in the class of Awolowo, he or she is already taken for an Awoist!
Prior to the July 16, 2022 Osun governorship election, the popular saying in some quarters was that the electorate would vote for Tinubu but reject Oyetola. But, over time, and with the recent development a la the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, a section of the populace has ignorantly been holding the notion that Tinubu must have influenced the outcome of the election petition. Therefore, it’s their belief that ‘City Boy’, as Tinubu is fondly called, must be paid back in his own coin. Let’s not also forget that the ruling party and its government are lurking in the dark. Interestingly, they still have the sympathy of a good chunk of the electorate in the state.
At any rate, Nigerians have seen beyond the smokescreen that the leadership trait of the party currently in power in Osun does not portray sympathy for the democratic public administration. For instance, a government which can withhold certain public servants’ salaries – and it’s not losing sleep about negative reports – has already weaponized poverty. Obviously, what it’s doing right now is to monitor where the state’s resources are allocated with a view to ensuring that the people are muzzled so that, when the election is few days away, the tight grip will be loosened a little bit to allow the song of Osun PDP being the people’s saviour resonates in the minds of the people.
In view of the foregoing, it will be in the objective interest of Osun APC to resolve the party crisis and mop up the votes of the undecided voters and repentant members before the D-day. It therefore behoves elders and leaders of the party to sit up and speak up so that everybody will queue behind the authority of the party. The party should also pump sufficient resources to lubricate the will of the party machinery. After all, holding the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is not enough, doing the needful with it is what matters most!
May the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, grant us peace in Osun State!
