Obi, in company with his running mate, Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed, other candidates and party chieftains, said this at the party’s Mega Rally at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.

The former Anambra governor said he was bound by all the promises made to Nigerians and would not renege on them if elected.

“I want you to take what we are promising you because for too long in this country we have allowed people to come, tell us one thing and when they get to office, they do another thing.

“We can no longer take it, you either do what you tell us or please leave our office.

“Please, go out on Feb. 25, look for LP, vote them, stay there until they count the votes. Once we win elections, that is the beginning of a new Nigeria,” he said.

Obi decried the rising insecurity, poverty, joblessness, consistent industrial strikes, fuel scarcity, suffering and economic hardship.

“Datti and I, are promising you that we will secure and unite Nigeria.

“We will ensure that when we start, after some years, no Nigerian will say I am from the West, East, North, South, but be proud to say we are Nigerians.

“We assure you that we are going to work hard to push out poverty and ensure our youths are employed. We will remove this country from consumption to production.

“Lagos will remain the centre of our finance and excellence. Nigeria has all it needs to be a great country,” he said.

Obi said that Nigeria had been designed to be a great country, but for bad leadership and governance.

He said that their administration would ensure rule of law and orderliness.

The LP Presidential candidate said that they would create an enabling environment that would spur investments in oil and gas, adding that there would be no room for anybody to steal Nigeria’ s oil again.

He said that farmers and youths would be supported, while ensuring that all uncultivated land in the North would be invested in, through agriculture.

According to him, their administration will use food production to drive down inflation in the country through exports.

“I am begging you the youths, support what we are doing. This is the beginning of youths and women development,” he said.

Obi assured that there would be freedom of the press and end to harassment by security agencies.

“Police will not harass anybody. They will be your care because we are going to improve policing. They will do the work of policing.

“For all those who are victims of police brutality, we will apologise and make sure it does not happen again,” he said.

Obi urged the youths to vote for LP, saying that the party would care for Nigerian fathers, mothers and their children.

In his remarks, Baba-Ahmed, who expressed confidence in the fortune of the party in the forthcoming elections, urged all Nigerians to wake up and unite to take back their country by voting for Obi.

“Join us to take back Nigeria. The only winner of the 2023 election is the Labour Party. We are ready to lead Nigeria to the great heights,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed described Obi as an examplary leader, a shinning example and an international super star, Nigerians were waiting for.

“From the day we are declared winners, we shall stop the killings and start the healing, we shall stop the stealing and start the keeping,” he said.

Speaking, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Leader of the Pan- Yoruba Socio-cultural Group, Afenifere, said that fairness and justice demanded that the next President of Nigeria comes from the South East, where Obi hails from.

Adebanjo urged Nigerians to think of their children and vote Obi as candidate with capacity to build the country.

“It is in your hands. It doesn’t concern me. It is those of you standing that I pity.

“Go and vote.

“When you vote, guard your votes because no one with power will want to lose it easily,” the nonagenarian advised youths.

Mr Julius Abure, the National Chairman of LP, who appreciated the teeming Obi’s supporters, urged the youths to take advantage of Obi in the race to create a future they wanted for themselves.

“Take advantage of this opportunity. This is the first time that we can find all tribes coming together to unite behind a candidate. We must take our destiny in our hands.

“You destiny is in your hands. Go out and vote out injustice and hunger,” Abure said.

The event, which brought together teeming supporters of Obi, especially youths, had various artistes, activists and other groups in attendance.

The Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, said this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

The defence spokesman added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria was dismayed that even politically exposed persons had denigrated themselves into joining the agents of destabilisation.

He said that the unscrupulous elements claimed that some military officers met with a Presidential candidate with the aim of disrupting the general elections and setting the country on fire.

According to him, the purveyors of the wicked and very malicious propaganda also indicated that a so-called Thursday meeting is plotting a Coup d’etat to establish unconstitutional order.

The Defence spokesman said those who made the false claims were agents of destabilisation and violence seeking to heighten tension in the polity and would be made to face the wrath of the law.

“It needs to be stated that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is a professional military that is loyal to the constitution of the Federal Republic and will never be part of any evil plot against our democracy.

“Besides, the Military remains apolitical and neutral in the current political process and will not engage in the alleged shenanigans.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will never be part of any ignoble plot to truncate our hard-earned democracy,” he said.

Gusau said the military high command would ensure that those who fabricated and spread the unfounded report were invited by appropriate law enforcement agencies to substantiate their claims.

“The general public is advised to disregard such information and go about their normal activities,” he added.

Ugwuanyi Was Deaf, Dumb As A Legislator For 12 Years, His Performance As Gov In 8 Years Was Woeful, Says Ejike Eze, APC Senatorial Candidate

Did he forget something in National Assembly that he wants to pick up?, he queries

Eze, whose campaign has shaken up the senatorial district, said Ugwuanyi’s poor performance is enhancing his chances going by the massive support he is receiving in his grassroots-centered campaign.

Enugu North Senatorial Candidate, Mr Ejike Eze

He said as a legislator for 12 years at the House of Representatives, Governor Ugwuanyi neither uttered a word nor moved a motion on any issue concerning Igbo Eze North and South Federal Constituency that he represented.

“Ugwuanyi’s poor performance as a governor is enhancing my chances.

Chimaroke Nnamani when he was governor, his people had a son. He perfomed to the point that when he returned even though he fell out with some people, his people said the position should be left for him. They still reelected him. He is still a candidate to beat”, he said.

The former diplomat with specialisation in intelligence and security protocol, said Ugwuanyi’s history in government was a study in administrative malfeasance and poor governance skills.

“In my own case, even the incumbent governor, his performance is poor. Don’t forget that he was in the House of Reps for 12 years. We have to bring his antecedents to the table and analyse it. It was not in his favour. He was almost a deaf and dumb legislator.

“He never said anything but he succeeded in accumulating money which helped him to become a governor and he has ruled for eight years and the same performance he had in the National Assembly is replicated in the state government and people are saying 12 years in the National Assembly, he has not performed, 8 years as governor, he has not performed creditably”, he said.

He queried the rationale behind his quest for a senate seat.

“Why are you talking about his going to the National Assembly? What did he forget in the National Assembly that he is going collect?

His candidature is actually an advantage to me. It would have been bad for me when they were writing results but with the advent of BIVAS, votes are counting.

“We have been urging people to collect their PVCs because with their PVC, votes will count. With your PVC, you will vote your conscience”, he said.

“Power belongs to the people. The sovereign will of the people decides who is elected. It is no longer the era where you sit down in one corner, allocate votes. The era has gone”, he declared.

The supporters of one of the Governorship aspirants, Senator Yusuf A Yusuf, for instance, said it was embarrassing to allot numbers to their principal since he did not participate in the re-run held at a Hotel in Jalingo.

According to them, the action showed that the fresh primaries was pre-arranged and designed to cause confusion in the party.

Five aspirants, including Senator Yusuf had earlier said at a press conference that they would not participate in the event.

They said they were boycotting because of the Supreme Court Judgement that did not accommodate a fresh primaries.

Surprisingly, some of them were still allocated some votes in the exercise that has further deepened divisions within Taraba APC.

Reacting to the development, some APC leaders said they may consider legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its disobedience of court orders.

They accused INEC of colluding with Senator Emmanuel Bwacha to emerge as the sole winner in a purported primaries.

Speaking on the development, one of the party stalwarts, Alhaji Dattijo Falau, said there was an attempt to ridicule the party.

He said the exercise did not solve any problem but have created new ones.

He said, “The Bwacha camp did not wait for us to solve the problems on ground but rushed to hold a social gathering. There action have further torn the party apart.”

Falau said he sensed mass defection hitting the party as many are disenchanted with what the Bwacha camp has been doing.

It was reported on Saturday that few days after the Supreme Court sacked the APC Governorship Candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, the party held another primaries, a situation described by observers as defiance of the judgement of the apex court.

Other aspirants rejected the exercise and have boycotted it, heightening tension in Jalingo, the State capital and other areas.

The Supreme Court had, in a unanimous decision, voided the APC primaries that produced Senator Bwacha, but said a new primaries was not necessary again as it is “otiose”

The Taraba State APC led by Ibrahim El Sudi who was recently expelled from the position as chairman of the party, conducted the fresh primaries at the Shield Hotels, Jalingo.

The communities include we Otuegwe 2, Ibelebiri, Oruma, Otuesega, Imiringi, Elebele, Emeyal 1, Emeyal 2, Kolo 1, Kolo 2 and Kolo 3.

Members of the communities which made up constituency 3 declared their total support for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), when he led his campaign team to visit them.

A statement by his campaign organisation sais the jubilant crowd made up of men, women and youths, said from their assessment, Iworiso-Markson is far and above all other candidates and will best serve their collective interest.

They stated that their open endorsement was a clear evidence of the confidence they have in his capacity to deliver after listening to his message of a New Deal to help turn around the fortunes of Ogbia.

According to them, the message of providing jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in Ogbia, his resolve to create wealth through SMEs to support mostly women and farmers by providing them with resources through various agricultural schemes and projects resonated with them.

In his remarks Iworiso-Markson, lamented about the poor state of infrastructure and acute under development in Ogbia, which he said cannot continue.

The SDP candidate said the Late Chief Melford Okilo, an icon of Ogbia Kingdom will be turning in his grave because of how low Ogbia has fallen due to bad leadership and the unbridled greed of its political elites.

He said: “Today, we are suffering from the consequences of bad leadership and poor decisions made by government decades ago since our hero Okilo passed. It is so pathetic that in this present day Ogbia, not one stone has been put on top of the solid foundation Okilo laid to radically transform the infrastructural landscape of Ogbia over 40 years ago.

“Nothing is working in Ogbia. There’s complete absence of government in Ogbia. No good roads, no water, no light, there’s endemic poverty, and our people are suffocating and going through untold hardship. Worst of it all, Ogbia’s unity which was once a thing of pride is in total disarray. Every community in Ogbia is divided from the traditional institutions down to the youths. Community infighting over kingship is the order of the day.

“The question we should be asking ourselves is how did we get here? How did it get so bad that we cannot even live peacefully among ourselves? Are we cursed? Ogbia sure need deliverance and there can be no better time than now to vote for credible persons into leadership to unleash fresh air on Ogbia.”

Iworiso-Markson again used the occasion to present himself to the people and solicited for their votes in the February 25 elections to emerge as the next House of Representatives member for Ogbia.

The community campaign train will continue on Monday to constituency 1 and 2 according to the Director General of the Iworiso-Markson Campaign Council, Mr. Kopi Macaulay Wongo.

He said the successful flag off of the campaign is indicative of the fact that Ogbia people are yearning for change.

“The people are eager to embrace the fresh air and victory for our candidate is assured come February 25”, he said.

It is not believed to be a politically motivated attack. This is according to a security expert who spoke exclusively to our reporter. “The Ihiala area has served a haven for IPOB criminal activities since the days preceding the Anambra gubernatorial election when a series of politicians were attacked in the area. The area was a no go area during that period”. He added that the group were pushed out of Imo State.

According to the security expert, a local criminal gang operating within the Ihiala community may have carried out the attack. Top on the list of suspects is the criminal gang popularly refereed to as the  Ochiagha gang. They are believed to have carried out the attack judging by their previous activities.

The credible but unverified source pointed to the criminal gang as having orchestrated the attack that killed three police officers attached to the Delta State Governor.

Ochiagha group is a notorious gang that claims to be operating the auspices of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra [IPOB] & Eastern Security Network [ESN] through the leadership of a fellow named Temple who has been known to operate in the Ihiala region. But local vigilante members point to their activities has having to involve armed robbery, arson and kidnapping. “They are hiding under IPOB to commit crimes“.

247UREPORTS had reported that four police officers attached to Gov. Okowa were ambushed on Friday by gunmen.

According to police release by the public relations officer, Mr. Ikenga Tochukwu, the criminal gang were operating along the Orlu—Isseke Road in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State when the police officers who were coming from Abia State and were returning to their base at the Delta State government house ran into an ambush. Exchange of gun shots ensued. Three of the officers died and one injured.

Local eyewitnesses indicated that the gunmen escaped after the shooting using the police vehicle. Some of the eyewitnesses identified the vehicle as possibly a dark coloured Toyota Pickup truck.

The Anambra State Police Command had earlier assured that the Command is very poised to fishing out and bringing to book, the criminals behind the dastardly act.

Below is the police release on the attack:

On 10/2/2023, by 2:40 pm, Police Officers attached to Ihaila Area Command, responding to a distress call along Isheke road, ihaila, recovered the bodies of three fatally wounded policemen. The officers came under attack and their vehicle was set ablaze by yet unidentified armed men.
Information reveals that the Policemen were identified as officers attached to Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD), Delta State Police Command and on official assignment en route to Abia state.
Efforts are currently ongoing in tracking the armed men that committed this act. Further details shall be communicated, please.

Our Expulsion Inconsequential, Ayu’s Lawlessness Will Fail, Ekiti PDP NASS Candidates

0

National Assembly candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State have described their purported expulsion from the party as “inconsequential and clear disrespect for the laws of the party and that of the country,” saying; “The lawlessness of the Senator Iyorchia Ayu led National Working Committee (NWC) will fail ultimately.”

They said the Ayu-led NWC of the PDP lacked the powers to suspend let alone expel them from the party without due process.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the candidates, Alhaji Lateef Ajijola (Ekiti Central) as well as House of Representatives candidates, Otunba Yinka Akerele (Ekiti North 1), Lere Olayinka (Ekiti Central 2), Joju Fayose (Ekiti Central 1) and Mrs Emiola Adenike Jennifer (Ekiti South 2), said members and supporters of the party in the State should discountenance the expulsion and continue to work for their victory in the forthcoming elections.

“In the face of the law, we remain candidates of the PDP and only death can change that. Therefore, we will keep working to win our elections while we wait on the court to determine the propriety or otherwise of the party’s decisions.

“Section 33 of the Electoral Act, 2022,  provides that ‘a political party shall not be allowed to change or substitute its candidates whose name has been submitted under Section 29 of this Act, except in the case of death or withdrawal of candidate.’

“The implication of the above is that the only instance where a validly nominated candidate whose name has been submitted to INEC by a party can be changed or substituted is when the candidate dies or withdraws from the race in accordance with Section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2022.

“Therefore, our candidature is intact and we will not be distracted from winning our elections.

“Most importantly, as at last week Thursday, a court of competent jurisdiction already ordered that no further action should be taken by the party. Consequently, any action taken in contravention of the court order will not only be null and void, but also contemptuous. We believe that Ayu and his gang know the implications of telling the court to go to hell.

“We are unperturbed. Rather, we are being propelled to work harder to ensure victory in the elections. Ultimately, it will be victory for us as candidates of the PDP.’’

The incident, SaharaReporters reliably gathered, occurred on Friday in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State on the governor’s way to Abia State.

Giving the names of the three deceased police officers as Inspectors Lucky Aleh, Celestine Nwadiokwu and Jude Obuh, a police officer attached to the Anambra State command who pleaded for anonymity, disclosed that the three officers who were part of the advance party of the PDP vice presidential candidate and governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa to Abia state were attacked and killed by unknown gunmen at about 1.30pm at Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State and their vehicle set ablaze.

It was reliably gathered that two of the killed police officers were indigenes of Agbor, Delta state.

“Four officers were in the vehicle but one was on mufti (not on uniform) so he was freed while the three in uniform were killed. The Escort commander from the Government House, Asaba, was sent to bring their corpses and deposit in a mortuary in Asaba,” a Government House source confided in SaharaReporters.

Contacted on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), of Anambra State command, Ikenga Tochukeu, confirmed the incident, adding that, “We got distress calls and we rushed to the scene of the incident. The policemen who were killed are from the Delta state command and were on transit as at the time of the incident. But I can assure you that the state commissioner of police, Anambra is very poised to bringing to book the criminals behind the dastardly act.”

As at the time of filing in this report, the Delta State Government house and the state police command are said to have been thrown into mourning mood over the incident.

Anambra Community Deserted As Soldiers Allegedly Storm, Set Houses Ablaze, Shoot Residents (Photos)

By Izunna Okafor, Awka

Residents of Anaku in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, have fled the community, and run to neighbouring communities for their safety, as Nigeria soldiers allegedly invaded and attacked the community.

This, according to sources, was as a result of the lingering and ongoing communal clash between the Anaku and Omor, another neighbouring community in the area.

When 247ureports.com visited area, it was observed that the agrarian community was deserted, to the extent that only the bleating of goats could be heard in the community, while houses and many other properties were destroyed, following the alleged invasion by the soldiers.

[envira-gallery id=”194730″]

Ashes, and corpses of burnt human beings were also seen in the community, while rubbles of houses, goods, and other properties set ablaze also littered the community, with very few and apparently fear-gripped residents seen around, who had come to check on their properties or pick one or two things.

It was gathered that the massive destruction was perpetrated over the week, following the resumption of the age-old communal clash between the two communities.

When interviewed, one of the residents of the community, Mr. Amamchukwu Izuogu, said the soldiers stormed on Wednesday. He narrated that they asked him about his children, whom, he told them, all live in Onitsha. Hé said they also checked his room, but couldn’t find anyone there, before they left, only for him to start hearing shortly after that they had begun burning some houses in the community.

He suspected that the military may have been brought by the people of Omor, with whom they are having the communal clash.

He narrated the Omor people were invading the Anaku community, but were blocked at the Ikpa by the youths of the community. He, however, said that while they were forcing their attacks to retreat, the soldiers stormed, whom, they (the Anaku people) thought came to mediate/pacify and bring peace between the two communities; only for them to return the following day and start burning everywhere in Anaku.

He revealed that no fewer than three persons died during the attack by the military.

Mr. Izuogu accused the Traditional Ruler of Omor as the person fueling the crisis, on the ground that he proves to be more wealthy than people from the opposing side. He also revealed that the monarch still has an outstanding case at Zone 13, Ukpo, concerning the ongoing communal clash with the people of Anaku. He further revealed that the Omor community attacked Anaku community exactly one year after they attacked another community, Umumbo, in the area.

According to him, the government had earlier settled the land boundary dispute between the two communities, which the Anaku people accepted, even though they felt cheated. He, however, said the Omor community rejected the settlement, and went further to remove the boundary marks put by the government, and consequently started intruding into Anaku land.

Mr. Izuogu, who is a stakeholder in the community, further alleged that it was the Omor monarch that engaged and used the military to rubble Anaku community, as he had always boasted on his wealth and connection. He said the Omor monarch had earlier accused the Anaku deities of various crimes, including accepting human sacrifice, which they were all vindicated from after the government sent a delegation to investigate the allegations and the shrines in the community.

He also said the soldiers attacked and burnt every village in Anaku community.

On his own part, an Anglican priest in the community, Rev. Canon Sunday Udegbunam of the St. John’s Special Parish, Anaku, who said the church’s women’s ministry shops were also set ablaze by the military, said the incidents happened on Wednesday, after the communal clash between the two communities. He suspected that the grievances of the soldiers might be tied to an alleged murder of one of their colleagues, who was reportedly killed in the community during the initial clash, and whose corpse, the soldiers insist, must be provided.

“There was a communal between us and the Omor people. And they said a soldier was killed during the clash, I don’t know. And they said the soldiers said the corpse must be provided to them. In fact, I don’t really know what is happening,” he said.

The Anglican priest further said that items worth over 50 million naira were damaged, while many others were looted by the soldiers, when they attacked the women’s ministry shops.

A former Woman Leader in the community, Mrs Ojadi Blessing Ifeoma, who led the newsmen to the community’s skill acquisition centre consummately damaged by fire, said items worth millions of naira were parked at the center, but were all destroyed by the soldiers, including sewing machines, computer sets, and other production machines.

Another resident of the community and Monica Chukwuemeka, a rice farmer, said she fled immediately she sighted the soldiers, only to return later and discover that all the rice she stored, worth millions of naira, had been burnt to naught.

Chigozie Nwikpor, on his own part, narrated how an old blind man, identified as Nonyelu Egwuatu, was burnt alive, together with his house, the pictures of which were also shown to the newsmen.

When interviewed, the President-General of the community, Chief Nwuba Paul Onyebuchi, narrated how he received a call at about 5.AM about the invasion of Omor people, shortly after which he said he received another call, informing him that soldiers invaded and were setting the community ablaze.

According to him, the soldiers destroyed almost 90% of the total buildings in the community, and said the town union had evacuated everybody in the village, and hopes to approach the soldiers when everything is doused to inquire the reason behind such inhumane act.

He said he had called the Divisional Police Officer of the area, who confirmed the incident.

Commenting on issues with Omor community, Chief Nwuba attested that the two communities had been having clashes in the past, but, however, said it had never gotten to the current extent, as he can’t tell whether the clash is now between the Anaku community and Omor community, or between the Anaku community and the Nigerian Army.

“I call on the Anambra State Government, the Federal Government and the international bodies, including the United Nations, to visit the area and see with their own eyes, what the military, Nigeria soldiers, did to innocent and unarmed civilians,” he said.

This reporter contacted a leading security outfit in the state, which, though, confirmed there’s a communal clash between the Omor and Anaku communities, however, said it was not aware of the alleged invasion of the Anaku community by soldiers, and, therefore, cannot react on it.

Be it as it may, a top security official who pleaded anonymity said the presence of soldiers in the area was an attempt to complement the effort of the Divisional Police in Anaku, which led to the drafting of troops of the Nigerian Army, 302 Artillery Regiment General Support, Onitsha, to quell the situation among the two waring communities.

According to the source, only 5 trucks with 25 soldiers went for the operation.

The source further revealed that the troops unfortunately ran into a barricade mounted by the militants, which led to exchange of fire between one Nnamdi (popularly known as Vulture) and the Army.

It added that two soldiers sustained injury, which made the military to remobilised with over 50 soldiers and return to the area in another operation which lasted till midnight. It claimed that about 4 houses, including that of Nnamdi, were set ablaze during the operation.

The source, however, revealed that the operation continued, with some shops along the main Anaku Old Road also set ablaze by the troops, while the suspect and his boys fled.

Incessant Killings: Ohanaeze Youth Calls For Disbandment Of Ebube Agu In Ebonyi

…Alleges it is Gov Umahi’s Militia Killers Squad

As the long awaited 2023 general election approaches, the Apex Socio-cultural youth organization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC) has called on federal government to abolish the blood coated operations of Ebube Agu security Network, in Ebonyi State.

OYC made this clarion call following the incessant, brutal killing of innocent residents of Ebonyi State, lamenting that if nothing is done to disband the Security Outfit, the state would experience inexplicable bloodbath that would be perpetrated by the happy trigger group.

Addressing newsmen in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State’s capital, during a working visit to the State, OYC’s national President, Comrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka described Ebube Agu a militias group of the executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi.

Igboayaka wailed that, the reports he gathered from both the State and Local Government Executive Council of Ohanaeze Youth Council, proved that Governor David Umahi has turned Ebube Agu to his personal killers’ Squad.

While reminiscing about the ugly incidents of the activities of Ebube Agu, Igboayaka said:

“Ohanaeze Youth observed  that “around January/February 2022, over 20 youth were killed at Akaeze, and their dead bodies were dumped at Ivo river, in Ivo local government. Unfortunately to killer Squad, Ebube Agu, ran out of lock when they killed another youth within the period identified as Mr. Nnaogo Ajali, from Amarameze Umobor Akaeze in Ivo local government. They killed the poor young man with a Hammer, tortured him through his penis.

“In another horrific incident, Ebube Agu killed one Comrade Onyekachi Okor(aka Elueke) from Umuoji Umobor Akaeze whom they also butchered and cut off his private part.

“Over 30 youths from Akaeze who dared to protest the intimidating act and murderers actions of Ebube Agu Militias group were arrested and dumped at Ebonyi State prison on the order of Governor David Umahi. These are typical evidence that democratic government has left Ebonyi State, and has been replaced by the tyrannical government of David Umahi.

Continuing, Comrade Igboayaka revealed that : “More than than 70 Akaeze youths have fled out of their land due to incessant killings and arrest of Ebube Agu Militias squad of the incumbent Governor Engr. David Umahi

“The tyrannic rulership of Gov. David Umahi has made many villages in Ebonyi a ghost village. It would be recalled also that during the December 2022 village foothball tournament  which extended to January 3, 2023 at Iyioji Secondary school Akaeze Ivo local government, Ebube Agu stormed the field shooting sprodically, although no live was lost but over 20 Youths were arrested, all master-minded  through one Hon. Onyewuchi Agbadu an APC house of Assembly Candidate of Ivo local government whose services, Gov. Umahi deploys in perpetuating his evil aganda in Ebonyi State.

“Earlier, around March 2, 2022, the National Youth President of Akaeze Youth Forum Sunday Ajaero, a vocal youth was kidnapped from Onitsha by a team led by Onyebuchi Agbadu and his brother Emmanuel Agbadu still on the instruction of Governor David Umahi.

“Ebube Agu Militias squad in Ebonyi State is now a terror to villagers and a tool of harassment, torture and intimidation against any perceived political enemy of Governor David Umahi.

“The activities of Ebube Agu is becoming too worrisome and unbearable. For instance, we gathered that on 8 February 2023, at Ohaozara, about six(6) people were shot, one youth was shot on the chest, with a teenager, one pregnant woman and one military personnel received a gunshot from Ebube Agu Militias. Those who ran for their lives during the shooting were pursued by Ebube Agu into Mr. Ogbonnaya Eleodi’s compound for protection (opposite secretariat), and many people were injured whereas not fewer than 8 vehicles were destroyed by Ebube Agu Militias squad.”

Comrade Igboayaka, therefore, urged the Inspector General of Police and all other heads of various Security agencies to act fast and prevent the looming blood bath that might strike during the elections, if Ebube Agu continues operation in the State, regretting that the said security outfit is merely set up to serve in the interest of the Governor David Umahi.

“The National Security Adviser, National Director of State Security Service, Inspector General of Police must as a matter of urgency understand that Ebube Agu in Ebonyi State is merely serving the interest of Gov. David Umahi, and it’s a time bomb waiting to blow, an incident that will interrupt national peace and a direct security threat to the nation.

“It is, therefore, very necessary at this time to banish Abube Agu Militias in Ebonyi before 2023 general election otherwise heads will roll in Ebonyi”, Igboayaka concluded.
