The United Progressive Party (UPP) Anambra state chapter rejoices with the good people of Nigeria over the outstanding success of the Super Eagles team in the Orange African Nations Cup just concluded on Sunday in South Africa. The victory over the Stallions of Burkina Faso in a titillating match speaks volumes of the ills in the previous managements at the glass house. After the dark 13 years in Nigerian football history, the team under the tutelage of a well versed coach Stephen Keshi has regained its past glory and has proven that an indigenous coach can indeed take the team places.
We commend the team’s doggedness and determination to achieve success that culminated in winning the much coveted trophy and the whole world stood in awe of the superlative and entertaining performance of our talented players. The great show of sportsmanship and unity portrayed by the players was indeed groundbreaking. Nigerians look forward to a wonderful and successful outing next year at the FIFA organized world cup when Nigeria will conquer the world.
UPP government in Anambra state as the people sensitive and goal oriented party in government will recognize the importance of sports towards development and promises to use sports to engage a lot of talented sportsmen among other measures to curb the ever increasing crime rate when voted into office come the November, 2013 elections. Secondary school inter-sports and interschool competitions importance cannot be overstressed since it will provide the much needed forum to scout talents which will be honed to stardom. UPP recognizes sports and its potentials as a key player in development and in simultaneously assisting the country in curbing youth restiveness whilst providing gainful employment for the participants.
