The Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra chapter, Sir Emmanuel Ifesinachi has resigned from office.
Ifesinachi before commencing the monthly congress of the union on Thursday said he is stepping down because he is contesting for the office of the zonal Vice President of NUJ and according to the constitution of the union, must vacate his seat.
Ifesinachi in his validatory speech thanked NUJ Anambra chapter and it’s members for giving him the opportunity to serve for five and half years. He urged them to support his ambition. He lamented that Anambra NUJ chapter has attempted the zonal VP position three times without succeeding but believes that he will break the record if supportted.
Acting Chairman NUJ Anambra Chapter, Francis Ekpone in his acceptance speech lauded Ifesinachi for his achievement while in office. He described the past chairman as a man with great leadership qualities.
Ekpone assured Ifesinachi of victory at the zonal election stating that this is Anambra’s time. He however emphasized that his success as the acting Chairman depends on the support and cooperation from members.
Mr. Emmanuel Udeagha, secratery Anambra NUJ in his speech describe Ifesinachi as a resource person stating that posterity will remember him for the tremendous achievement and contributions he made.
Other members in their separate remarks commended the past chairman stating that he is one of the best leaders the Anambra NUJ Chapter has ever produced.
