Structures housing elements of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) at Kaza along the Gulumba-Gana axis of Borno State have been levelled by Nigerian fighter jets.

The operation by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole was sequel to credible intelligence on terrorists’ activities in the area, Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said in a statement.

Several elements of the terrorist group were eliminated in the airstrike, Enenche said.

“The airstrike was executed on September 1, 2020 following credible human intelligence reports as well as confirmatory intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions indicating a resurgence of terrorists’ activities in the settlement,” he said.
