FLAG-OFF 2015 PDP Presidential & Gubernatorial Campaign (10)

Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state, Chief Ude Oko Chukwu says his party is set to repeat its 2011 success at the March 28 and April 11 general elections.

Oko Chukwu who spoke to our correspondent in Umuahia, insisted that the opposition parties in the state lack the structures to defeat the PDP, adding that such parties only exist to make up the numbers.

“I don’t want to mention names but which of the opposition parties can square up to the PDP in Abia state? There is none. Abia is a PDP state; there is no other party here. In Abia, opposition parties only exist to make up the numbers. Some people who are making noise in other parties today are members of the PDP who left as a result of their loss at the PDP party primaries. They took their decision at the heat of anger and men who take such decisions are bound to always make mistakes. Some of them are already regretting their actions.”

He stated that PDP is one big family with its structures firmly rooted in the 184 wards of the state.

“99% of Abians are members of the PDP and vote candidates of the party in the elections. The issue of questioning the chances of the PDP in the 2015 general elections is just asking questions for asking sake.  We are not contesting the election with anybody; our chances are bright as always. In 2011, we secured the Presidential, governorship, 3 senatorial, 8 House of Representatives and 24 State House of Assembly seats. The signs are clear that the PDP is set to repeat the feat. Even our opponents are aware of this.”
