In the medical parlance, coma is a state of extreme un responsiveness

in which an individual exhibits no voluntary movement or behaviour. In

deep coma, even painful stimuli action which when performed on a

healthy individual, result in reaction are unable to affect any

response and normal reflexes may be lost.

Some one who is in a state of coma is unconscious and will not respond

to voices and other sound,or any sort of activities going on nearby.

The person is still alive, but the brain is functioning at its lowest

stage of alertness.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of Alh.

Bamanga Tukur can not be said to be different from the above situation

as at today. Before I am crucified for this harsh verdict, I want the

substance in our collective judgment.

Despite all the pretensions or posturing that defy obvious reality.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is in the state of coma. The

funeral atmosphere that attended the recent special convention of the

party had removed any vestige of doubt that the PDP is actually in a

coma. A convention at which there were more long faces than smiling

faces conveys ominous signal of the uncertain fate that awaits the

party. Indeed, any one who had the curiosity to watch the proceeding on

Television live could not have failed to notice the bizarre features

of the controversial special convention. The atmosphere of

conviviality and amiability that should attended a gathering of one

family was palpably missing. Infact the whole event appears like a

weeding attended by reluctant or unhappy guests. Many of the

participants,including the president,governors,senators,ministers and

party faithfuls wore the expressions of their minds on their faces

especially when the formal vice president of Nigeria Alh. Atiku

Abubakar (Turaki Adamawa) who walk out of the venue of the convention

with seven governors. The mood of those who were present was

unmistakably gloomy. Even peripheral observers could not help asking

themselves what manner of national convention the PDP leaders were

holding. That singular act by “Turaki Adamawa” and the seven wise

governor (which is a topic for another day),was widely regarded as a

brutal assault on President Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan and other  party

executives. With the breakaway faction of the New PDP marked the

beginning of the current crises of confidence within the old PDP and

new PDP and the strained relationship between the President and other

party loyalist. However, the recent national special convention of the

PDP was the most unexciting political event Nigerians have ever

witnessed within living memory. I must diagnose in tears, our beloved

mother PDP will soon die with her curable disease if not urgently

attended to.

I REST MY PEN.
