This week PhotoNews presents the crisis in North Jos, the capital of Plateau State. It tells the story of injustice against a people in the same language used during the 1966 prognom that degenerated to the Nigerian invasion of Biafra 1967.

As the tears of the silent voices continue its run down the cheeks of the helpless surviving victims of the Jos masacre, the violence and threat of more violence continue to ring loud in Jos. The Islamic militants appear determined in their quest to push the Christian native of Jos away from the community, dead or alive.

Over 8,000 deaths have be recorded since the start of the crisis in Jos. And it continues. Villagers believe that since Jos is not an oil producing area that the leaders of the country have de-priotized the mounting deaths. Many more bodies are expected to be buried – as the native youths in the inner communities parade around in brewing anger – expected to blow open soon.

The properties and human lives in Jos tell the same horrid tale.

Below is a picture story of the damage of properties belonging to Christians in North Jos;

  1. why are we just sitting and watching people been killed like this. is this not time for us to stop this killing once and for all. how many more are to die before we realise our selve. shebbi, prevention is better than cure. the best way is to divide this country or maybe because the boko haram never kill any son or dauther of one of our polithivians before our eyes go open.
    something that started way back in 1945 till now. it is it not a clear indication that this marriage has not worked and will not work.

  2. It is quite unfortunate that the jonathan cannot lead us to the promise land. He needs to convocate a sovereign conference where all and sundry will be priviledged to air their opinions rather than to continue to pretend to the world that things are in order with our common existence. The constitution in existence is the dictate of a few disgruntle elements in Khaki to meet their selfish interests. If only the son of the minority has heeded advices earlier innocent bloodshed would have been avoided cum rising armed bandits here and there as the statistic of unemploynment rises on daily bases. Beware mr president do the right things now and not to continue to heed dictates of ota, minna and their cronnies for it is the golden opportunity left to unite our common existence. A word is enough for the wise.

  3. It is high time some people were told that nobody has a monopoly of violence. The residents of Jos should know that reprisal is the name of the game.
