ENUGU — The Archbishop Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has leveled grave allegations against the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, accusing him of maintaining silence over the deteriorating socio-economic conditions in Nigeria due to monetary patronage from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

Speaking during a recent public address, the outspoken senior cleric alleged that Pastor Adeboye’s reluctance to criticize or address the severe economic hardship, rising inflation, and governance challenges confronting ordinary Nigerians stems from financial influence extended to him by the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is herself an ordained pastor within the RCCG fold.

Archbishop Chukwuma asserted that senior religious leaders are expected to serve as the moral conscience of the nation and speak truth to political authority, rather than remaining quiet in the face of widespread public distress. He argued that the spiritual authority of key Christian figures in the country is being systematically compromised by political alignment and financial ties with the ruling administration.

The allegations come amid ongoing public debates across the country concerning the perceived silence of prominent Christian leaders regarding economic policies affecting the populace, alongside heightened scrutiny over First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s dual role as a high-ranking political figure and an ordained minister in the nation’s largest Pentecostal denomination.

Efforts to obtain official reactions from representatives of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Office of the First Lady were unsuccessful at the time of publication, while church leadership has previously maintained that Pastor Adeboye operates strictly within his spiritual mandate and remains uninfluenced by political considerations or external pressures.
