AWKA — A 16-year-old boy apprehended for residential burglary in Anambra State has confessed to orchestrating multiple break-ins using a potent local charm he claims puts occupants into a deep sleep during his operations.
The teenage suspect made the disclosure following his arrest after an aborted burglary attempt. According to his statement, the charm—which he claimed to have obtained from a spiritualist identified as Chimeleze in Awka, the Anambra State capital—had proven highly effective in his prior break-ins.
“I also put my victims to sleep before stealing their properties,” the suspect revealed, attributing his past successes to the potency of the spiritual item.
Security operatives and local community watch members apprehended the suspect after his latest attempt failed, leading to his confession regarding his operating methods and the source of his charms.
Police authorities in the state have launched an investigation into the suspect’s claims and are working to track down the alleged spiritualist as part of broader efforts to curb juvenile delinquency and criminal syndicates across the state.
