In a self-released video that has rapidly gone viral across social media platforms, the former Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, pulled back the curtain on what he described as a systematic, due-process-defying siphoning of Kano’s public treasury for private luxury. Barrister Muhyi, who confirmed directly to journalists that he authored and released the footage, openly challenged the former governor to seek legal redress if the multi-billion Naira financial infractions leveled against him were untrue.

“I challenge you to take me to court if what I said you have siphoned from Kano’s treasury is not true,” Muhyi declared boldly in the recording, appearing deeply visibly disturbed by the sheer scale of the financial documentation in his possession.

Breaking Down the Alleged Multi-Billion Naira Treasury Raids

The former anti-corruption boss provided specific dates, operational figures, and exact targets for the alleged treasury raids, painting a picture of an elite political figure utilizing state resources as a personal bank account.

According to the specific line items exposed in the audit files, the alleged diversions occurred in quick succession within a multi-month window:

  • The Private Mansion: Muhyi alleged that in December 2023, Kwankwaso directly collected ₦1 billion from the state treasury under the guise of building his private residence, though he failed to clarify whether the house in question is the one the former governor currently occupies.
  • The Personal Office Complex: Within the exact same month, the former governor allegedly pulled out another ₦525 million for the construction of his personal office.
  • The Luxury Fleet: The files further allege that Kwankwaso took ₦1.240 billion, along with an additional ₦400,000, to purchase high-end official cars for his personal use.
  • The Holiday and Medical Funds: Moving into mid-2024, the allegations reveal that Kwankwaso allegedly collected ₦510,213,000 from public funds to finance his personal holidays, alongside an additional ₦100,800,000 withdrawn in June 2024 to cover private medications.

The former anti-graft boss added that this initial release is just the beginning, warning that there is far more documentation for him to open up against the former governor regarding the systematic bleeding of Kano’s public funds.

Shaking the Roots of the 2027 Kano Alliance

The timing of these explosive disclosures drops a massive political bombshell onto the fragile 2027 alignment chessboard in Kano State. Just recently, the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) governorship candidate and current Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, officially announced Kwankwaso’s son, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, as his running mate for the 2027 gubernatorial race.

With the Kwankwasiyya dynasty actively positioning its next generation to retain total executive control over Nigeria’s most populous northern commercial nerve center, Muhyi’s corruption files threaten to completely derail the moral and political legitimacy of the joint ticket.

Critics and opposition elements are already pointing out that the allegations expose a toxic culture of state capture, where public funds are allegedly being used to bankroll the luxurious lifestyles of family members and godfathers while the ordinary populace battles historic economic starvation and inflation.

Kwankwasiyya Camp Scrambles for Damage Control

Faced with an unyielding public backlash, the leadership of the Kwankwasiyya movement has been forced onto a defensive footing.

When contacted regarding the specific multi-million Naira line items exposed by the former anti-graft boss, the official spokesperson for the movement, Dr. Habibu Muhammad Sale Mailemo, confirmed they were fully aware of the damaging video. Mailemo stated that their legal and political teams are currently studying the specific allegations to formulate an appropriate response.

“We are studying the allegations, and we will respond appropriately, and it may include taking legal action against Barrister Muhyi,” Mailemo countered.

As the legal threats hang in the air, Barrister Muhyi remains defiant, maintaining his open challenge for a courtroom showdown where the certified bank statements and treasury receipts can be laid bare before the public.
