ABUJA, FCT — The leadership of the Igbo Community Association FCT has announced a grassroots mobilization campaign to get all eligible residents registered in the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
The civic sensitization drive aims to ensure maximum participation across the Federal Capital Territory during the official registration window, which begins on May 11, 2026, and runs until July 10, 2026.
The two-month exercise provides an opportunity for unregistered citizens and existing voters to update their records with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The leadership emphasized that the upcoming registration window is vital for community members who need to utilize any of the following services:
- New Registrations: For youths who have recently turned 18 or citizens who have never registered before.
- Voter Transfers: For individuals who have relocated to new neighborhoods or states and need to move their polling units closer to their current residence.
- Card Replacement: For voters whose Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are lost, stolen, or damaged.
- Data Correction: For individuals needing to rectify errors in their names, dates of birth, or biometric details.
“Our goal is to ensure that every eligible voice in our community is empowered,” said the President General, Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe. “We are urging all our members, market associations, and youth groups across the FCT to treat this exercise with the utmost urgency.”
Secretary General Emmanuel Chinwoke Onah stated that the association is setting up support channels to guide residents who may experience difficulties with the registration process.
Applicants can begin their application online through the official INEC portal at inecnigeria.org or visit the nearest INEC Local Government Area office to complete their biometric capture.
For assistance, inquiries, or information on designated registration centers within the FCT, members of the public can contact the Igbo Community Association secretariat directly via 0813 669 7979 or 0912 534 4385.
