Martin Agbaso and his faction of the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] suffered another blow as they gathered to hold a supposed APGA national convention at Owerri in Imo State yesterday, the 11th of August 2017.
The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] did not attend the supposed Agbaso national convention to monitor the process of electing new officers to the party.
INEC’s absence is believed to imply that the INEC does not consider the Agbaso led group as the authentic APGA faction.
Nonetheless, Agbaso and his group held a short private meeting attended by close associates of the former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi. The likes of Dubem Obaze was in attendance along with other close associates.
A source in the INEC told 247ureports.com that the gathering by Agbaso’s group has no impact in the scheme of things as far as the authenticity of APGA leadership in the eyes of INEC. “We don’t recognize them”.
Agbaso was recently ejected out of the national secretariat of APGA in Abuja following his attempted capture of the secretariat. Agbaso had hired policemen along with other armed thugs to launch a break-in at the secretariat. But the Inspector General of Police [IGP] ordered for the policemen to be withdrawn from the premises and for the rightful occupants be reinstated.
