The Police in Abia State have arrested 3 members of a five-man gang who specializes in vandalizing electricity installations in the area.
247ureports.com gathered that the three suspects identified as; Obirinachi Chijioke, Chigoziem Okereke and Ikemsinachi Okereke, were arrested after they removed some vital parts of a transformer station at Obikabia village in Obingwa council area.
According to an eyewitness, Chigoziem and Ikemshinachi Okeke were said to have been caught vandalizing the transformer installation by residents of the area, while Obirinachi Chijioke who broke his leg while running away from the scene was later arrested by the police patrol team.
Police sources at the Division told our correspondent that efforts are on top gear to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.
In a related development, the World Bank Estate Police Division, Aba, have also arrested a suspected armed robber simply identified as Chibuike.
It was gathered that Chibuike and 7 other members of his gang allegedly stormed a drinking bar located at Ukonu Street by MCC road, Aba where they dispossessed their victims of cash and other valuables worth over N30, 000.
On sighting a Police patrol team, the gang escaped from the scene, but luck, however ran out on Chibuike who was arrested by the patrol team.
As at press time, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abia State Command, Mr. Ogbonnya Nta, proved abortive as he failed to respond to repeated calls and text messages to his mobile number.
