The former presidential candidate of the African Liberation Party (ALP) and third runner-up of the 2003 presidential election Dr. Osita Emmanuel Okereke has enjoined political office seekers not to resort to blackmail and unwarranted criticism of those in authority when their political desires are meet.

Dr. Okereke who gave the advice in an interview with 247ureports.com urged Nigerians to support their government at various level to deliver on their campaign promises especially on the ongoing war against corruption by federal government.

The president of Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) and Director General National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons (NATFORCE), regretted that the some people wants to be in power by all means and when they see somebody they cannot deceive or control they will become aggressive.

Okereke who said likes of Femi Fani-Kayode has no reason for attacking President Muhammad Buhari said Buhari’s government is Yoruba government as they occupied strategic positions in the administration.

He said if Fani-Kayode is genuinely concerned about the well being of Nigerians, he should support the war against corruption by the federal government in order to recover the looted funds deploy to the development of Nigeria.

“He should instead criticize his brothers that are working in the government because those brothers are ministers in the government. They have vice president and other key positions and as long as I am concerned this government is the Yoruba government, they have more position than any other tribe.

“The problem of Fani-Kayode and others caused this nation is what Mr. President is trying to cleanup” querying while people like him should still have the temerity to talk rubbish against the presidency.

He alleged that Fani-Kayode is looking for an appointment and shield from prosecution for past dealing while he was in government. “Not by shouting even if you shout or not if you have committed an offence, if the anti-graft agency traced any of the corruption looted money to you, you must come to answer for it and inviting you doesn’t mean that you are going to prison”.

The war against corruption shouldn’t have started from any government rather than the immediate past administration down to the previous regimes.

“Buhari is not a man you can intimidate and is not a man even if his son committed offence today he will be shielded from prosecution like others. Mind you the anti-graft agency is only probing the arms deal, the Larmode EFCC is yet to be probed, and ex-controller Custom Diko his case is also there and I believe is under investigation and will soon come up”.

The ex-presidential candidate said many more corruption cases is in the pipeline as the anti-graft agencies is only investigating arms deal, “so if we cannot give Mr. President the encouragement why are we shouting corruption if we can’t back Mr. President to do what he is doing now. We should remove sentiment and tell Nigeria the truth.

“Past governors and former ministers have not answered their cases and mind you that some of the incumbent ministers involved in corruption will still going to answer for it. Mr. President is not going to shield any of them and remember that ministers have no immunity and being a minister wouldn’t shield them from prosecution.

“Some of them worked under the last administration and if they are indicted they will be prosecuted. Those who are seeking for an appointment should do that in a genuine way not by making noise and shouting.

“Time has not come to start castigating him we should give him a year and six months or two years when we should be able to know where he is taken Nigeria to and with collective support, Buhari will transform Nigeria”, said Okereke.
