2015:A’Ibom PDP Ratifies Moses Ekpo as Udom’s Deputy

…Zones Political Positions in Next Dispensation

The Enlarge Caucus of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, has ratified the nomination of a pioneer commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Moses Ekpo as the running mate to the gubernatorial candidate of the party, Mr Udom Emmanuel in the 2015 gubernatorial elections.

This was part of the resolutions taken at the enlarge caucus meeting of the party in Uyo.

Announcing the decisions, the state chairman of the Party Obong Paul Ekpo told newsmen that the meeting of the enlarged caucus was convened to review the state of the party after the recently concluded primaries that saw the emergence of flagbearers for various positions in the next general elections.
The party congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the party, and also commended the governorship candidate Mr Udom Emmanuel on his overwhelming victory at the state primaries even as the caucus endorsed the setting up of campaign committees by the party ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Mr Paul Ekpo announced the setting up of a central reconciliation committee headed by Senator Effiong Bob as well as reconciliatory committees  in each of the three senatorial districts of the state.

Members of the Central Reconciliation Committee are Chief Vitalis Unang(Secretary), Chief Otu Ita Toyo, Engr. Sam Inyang, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, Chief (Mrs) Atim Okpoyo, Mrs Elizabeth Essien, Barr Jerry Akpan, Engr. Billy Etuk and Sir Sunday Udo Akpan as members.

The Senatorial Reconciliation Committees have Dr. Val Attah as Chairman for Eket Senatorial District, Chief Otu Robert Akpan as Chairman for Uyo Senatorial District and Chief Nduese Essien who chairs the committee in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.

Also approved at the meeting was the appointment of Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga as the Director General of the Governorship Campaign Organisation of Mr Udom Emmanuel.

Furthermore, the zoning of prominent positions of authority in the next dispensation were deliberated and approved at the caucus meeting. For Eket Senatorial District, the party accepted that the district should produce the Governor, Deputy Speaker, Deputy Chief Whip and State Secretary of the Party.

Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is to produce the deputy Governor, Majority Leader  and Chief Whip of the State Assembly, as well as the deputy chairman of the State Chapter of the Party.

Uyo senatorial District has been favoured to produce the Federal Minister, State Party Chairman, Speaker and Deputy Leader of the State House of Assembly.

Obong Paul Ekpo thanked the leader of the party Chief Godswill Akpabio and the wife of the Governor Mrs Akpabio for their leadership role which has seen the party waxing stronger.

Responding, the Director General of the 2015 PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga thanked the party leadership and members of the caucus for the far reaching decisions at the meeting. He called on all members of the party and the entire people of the state to continue supporting the state government in preparing the State for the future.
