Information available to 247ureports.com from reliable sources in Abia State indicate that the police in Abia State has made arrests in the shooting of a governor’s relative who also served as the personal aide to the governor’s son. The information received from the police public relations officer [PPRO], Mazi Ogbonna indicates that three [3] persons were arrested in relation to the shooting of the governor’s relative.

According to the PPRO, the police made the arrest immediately following the shooting. The three arrested persons are currenlty being interrogated in police custody. The PPRO could not state authoritatively the identities of the three persons that were arrested. He however mentioned that the situation still appears volatile and dynamic to make any further definitive statements on the incident.

A source within the police augumented the PPRO’s statement stating that the three men arrested were already making confessional statements concerning the incident. One of the arrested persons indicated that he shot his gun into the air – that he was not aware of the bullet striking anyone.

Just one bullet was fired.

The source however stopped short of identifying the 3 persons. The source failed to confirm whether the three arrested persons were police officers or security men attached to the government convoy. The source did observe that the information available to the police suggests that the manner the shooting occurred resembles an assasination attempt of a high value politician or a high value target – probably the son of the governor.

The police investigation remains inconclusive.

  1. This is typical of the reporting coming out of Nigeria. You guys are consistent in reporting vague and meaningless stories to the public. If you do not know or do not have any details, why report a story that still leaves your readers wondering why you even bothered to write anything at all. When you sit in front of your computer and start clicking keys, do you ever reread what you have written to determine its value to your readers. You so called reporters writing in Nigeria are nauseating to say the least.
