Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has commissioned and
handed over 27 Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Transition Committee
Chairmen of the 27 local areas of the state for effective
implementation and monitoring of on-going projects in their various
councils.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at Heroes Square, Concord
Avenue, Owerri, Governor Okorocha, represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Eze Madumere said, the donation was a joint effort of the state
and local governments to ensure that roads construction and other
infrastructural projects in the rural areas and state capital were
properly supervised, monitored and completed within the time frame.
Prince Madumere charged the council chairmen to ensure the vehicles
were strictly used for the purpose they are meant for, so that the
aims and objective would not be defeated.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief
Jerry Okorie described the procurement of the project vehicles as a
commitment of purpose which would effectively drive home the effects
of the state administration on roads and infrastructural project
though close supervision and monitoring.
Okorie enjoined the Chairmen to ensure the task is carried out
successfully in their various localities as a way of reciprocating the
good gesture.
In a vote of thanks, Chairman of Association of Local Government of
Nigeria (ALGON) Imo state commended Governor Okorocha for his vision
and efforts to provide Democracy dividends to the people of the state.
Chief Eke who is the Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise, said Imolites have
started counting their gains based on the speed at which development
has taken place in Imo rural communities and assured that they would
use the vehicles for the purpose of project monitoring and the success
of 4th tier Community Government.
