247ureports.com has embarked on a pictorial overview of State administration’s performance in governance and implementation of budgeted promises – of select States in the Nigerian Federation.

First in the series is Anambra State. Performance in Education, Healthcare, Erosion and Environment were evaluated.

Education:

A visit to a sample secondary school in Anambra State was used to evaluate the State administration’s performance in the area of Education and Educational insfrastructure. Nanka Community Secondary School in Orumba North Local Government Area [LGA] was visited. As a caveat, a minimal average of N1.055billion is earmarked by the State administration annually for infrastructural development of secondary schools and Equipment – particularly N915million was earmarked in the 2008 Budget for infrastructural development of secondary schools while N140million was earmarked for equiping the secondary schools.  [see subhead 7 & 8 below]

Contrasting the earmarked amount over 5years of the present Anambra State administration – equivalent to N5.8billion – against the state of the instrastructure in Nanka Community Secondary School depicts a discrepancy that may be symptomatic of a deeper administrative incapabilities. [see picture below]

Healthcare

Anambra State government budgets an annual minimum average of N1.25billion to Health – out of which N400million is earmarked for the rehabilitation and re-equipment of General Hospitals. Over the 5 years of the present state administration,it amounts to N2billion  for the rehabilitation and re-equipment of General Hospitals. [See suheading 2 below]

The General Hospital at Mbaukwu was used as a sample case. The picturial view of the facility shows what appears a discrepancy. [see pictures below]

Erosion & Environment

The minimum annual average earmarked in the Anambra State budget for Environmental Development and Management is N3.185billion – out of which N2billion is earmarked for Erosion Control annually. For 5years, it is equivalent to N10billion for Erosion Control.

Umuchiana Ekwulobia Gully Erosion project was used as a sample case. The present administration had claimed to have sunk N700million into the rehabilitation project. But the road appears to be sinking. See pictures below.

  1. This is commendable effort. I thank the administrators for this work. Unfortunately mass ignorance and poverty have been the bane of our society. And governments at all levels have exploited this to the disadvantage of the masses. That this country and state are in this deplorable state is the more compelling reason why there should be vibrant civil society is long over due. More of this unbiased analysis now and in future shall see us to the promised land.

  2. Obi is trying, He has built governors house and library at Awka and even donated computers to many schools. He also painted many roads built by Etiaba. He spent much in celebrating Anambra at 20 and gave award to some anambarians. He even clean the face of anambra through TV and Newspaper adverts and propoganda. I heard that Oba – Nnewi road which which he awarded many years ago is still there,

  3. Ikenna Good Job. Pictures do not lie. Compile more pictures and report them from the eyes of the lens and let us see how Peter will blame it on ngige or etiaba. We need more pictures. Send these pictures to ASA USA so that they can stop kissing Peters behind. Other town unions should take pitures of schools and hospitals in their towns.

  4. Go get a life bro. You should balance your report by visiting the schools, hospital and roads that were refurbished and renovated. If the road, hospital and school in your town didn’t the attention pray that the incoming government remembers it or better still call the attention of the present government to it. If other previous government have done half of what obi did, Anambra state would have been the best in the country. Stop this dirty journalism because only your friends read it though. If not that the link was sent to me I would never have crossed your link all my life.

  5. Austin Go and sit down. I visited Anambra state last two months. Anambra is the dirtiest state in the whole east. I wept when I was passing through Nnewi Oba Onitsha. Obi and co is busy doing nothing. Even EWU na Okuko know that Anambra was far better during the time of Ngige than now. I wonder where our money is going. It would have been better if Soludo was allowed. Why did this people at Abuja changed their mind at the last minute. Ngige performed wonder in just three years despite the fact the state were owing a lot of workers before he came. No local goverment election up till now.

  6. Am very sick of Peter Obi
He is busy stealing State’s money building the so called biggest mall in Africa.
The wife jetting all over the world spending like there is no tomorrow.
Anambra people wake up from your slumber Peter Obi is rubbing you to death.
