According to NEMA, the IDPs have been misusing the estate some who
even defecate in the premises or the surrounding bushes causing health
hazards.

Alhaji Sa’ad Bello made the disclosure in Yola when he arrived the
state capital to monitor and manage the affairs and activities at the
camp.

He stated that the owner of the estate for obvious reason has
therefore denied the IDPs the use of toilet facilities at the estate.

“We have even been denied erecting temporary structures in the estate
which saw the government providing alternative structures at Maikwolin
with all facilities including a school for the displaced children and
despite all these, the IDPs have refused to be moved to the new ground
even when they had earlier given their consent”, he said.

In further confirming the story, Alhaji Haruna Furo executive
Secretary of NEMA then pleaded with the IDPs to move to the new and
better ground.

Also in a related development, the catholic Bishop of Yola Most
Reverend Stephen Mamza has expressed gratitude to NEMA for making
available four trucks of relief materials to the diocese meant for
assisting displaced persons at the diocese.
