The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency has taken a swipe at Former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his continuous bashing of President Goodluck Jonathan and his administration.

In a statement signed in Abuja by The Executive Secretary, Dr. Rotimi Adeola, the Centre questioned the moral standing of Former President Obasanjo to criticise this and any other government as he had failed Nigerians during his administration.

“We are not ignorant of the obvious fact that former President Obasanjo is not content with his role as an elder statesman, but desire to be in the front wheel of this government keeping the president under his whims and caprice, a plot which has failed thus warranting his recent out bursts.”

Raising cases of corruption during the former president’s administration, the Centre demanded that he further furnishes Nigerians more information on the following unsolved fraud questions hanging on the Siemens, Halliburton and even the national Identity Cards scandals.

Stating the many ills of Obasanjo’s administration, the Centre pointed to the Niger Delta crisis, “It is public information that Obasanjo handled the Niger Delta crisis with impunity which cost the nation a huge fortune, until the Jonathan administration came to put paid to it; it is under the Obasanjo administration the seeds of today’s terror Boko Haram were sown and nurtured to torment us today. It will be wiser for Obasanjo to keep mute when matters of human right violations and violence are mentioned as Nigerians have not forgotten the Zaki-Biam and Odi massacres which have become nightmares to these affected communities till date,” the statement said.

The Centre urged the former President to desist from his journey of sowing seeds of discord in the nation and allow Nigerians enjoy the robust dividends of democracy now enjoyed; demanding an unreserved apology from the former president for his unwarranted verbal attacks on the entire nation; and also to the nation for his years of wastage and mismanagement. It however directed all security agencies to be on alert as the verbal and body language of Obasanjo are signals of violence to come as predicted in his recent outings, the statement added.
