Rainstorm has killed a 50 year-old Aisha Sagir and her 4-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, and destroyed several houses in Katsinawa, Bara Village, Kirfi Local Government Area of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib confirmed the incident , in a symphaty message he sent to the State Government on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, He said that preliminary reports stated that the incident occurred at about 10:00 hours Wednesday, 10th June 2026.

Nafiu said that Kirfi LGA experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds while severe weather incidents resulted in the tragic loss of the victims.
“In addition to the loss of lives, the rainstorm destroyed several houses, livestock, and other valuables worth millions of naira. Police operatives attached to Kirfi Division have visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage and to maintain order in the affected community.
He said The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and the entire people of Kirfi LGA. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He assured residents that the Command, in collaboration with other relevant agencies, remains committed to supporting disaster response efforts and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
Nafiu advised citizens to remain vigilant during this rainy season and to report any emergencies promptly to security agencies for swift response.
