2019: Borno Police Tightens Security Around Governorship Aspirants, Others

…Rescues APC State Chairman’s Son from kidnappers

The Police in Borno State is thightening  security in and around the over 20 governorship  aspirants and other top political office seekers  in the state to prevent attack from unsuspecting members of the public.

Recall that in 2011 , the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) Hon Fannami Gubio was assasinated in broad daylight and the assassins have not been arrested till date .

Already, sings of a repeat of 2011 incident  has began to rear its urgly head as suspected political thugs invded the home Attom Mohammed Magira , one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant but was  rescued by the police.

The police in the state says they are being proactive in their mission and arrest of Magiri attackers have been effected and it is expected to serve as deterrent to anyone who is planing to disrupt the peace of the state.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday , the commission of Police in Borno State , Damian Chukwu said the police is not leaving anything to chance as increased patrol and monitoring have are being carried out  in and around homes of the aspirants.

Chukwu disclose that the police command is aware  that some politicians in the state are too desperate but stated the police is more than ever prepared to take the bull by the horn and ensure the security of lives and properties of all residents in  Borno state  .

” We have made all necessary arrangements to protect the governorship aspirants . I have directed the the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of  Operations to reinforce each of them with their personal and residence security.  Ordinarily we don’t cover people in that catigory , but when things are happening like this , we will exercise our discretion to beef up security .

“We are appealing to the political class to take this electioneering business easy ; some of them appear or seem to be so desperate that they can do anything to achieve their political ambitions.

” During these electioneering period, worst things happens. I recall what happened in 2011 but we were lucky we didn’t experience much of it  2015 but here we are now 2018/2019 ; we expect, I’m not being pessimistic , but we need to project ,  we need to  be more security conscious .”  CP Chukwu said .

The police has also deployed Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other personnel to be on the look out for political thugs who are in the habit of destroying political banners and bill boards of political opponents .

” We already have personnel on patrol and anyone found destroying the bill boards or banners of politicians will be apprehended .”  Chukwu said

In another development, the police has intercepted 21 years Fatima Mohammed  who masterminded the kidnapping of Kashim Ali Dalori , son of the Borno State APC Chairman.

Fatima had  last week strolled in a school in Maiduguri and disguised as of the relative of 4- year- old master Kashim Ali Dalori before whisking him to an unknown destination.

This made the police to lunch a man- hunt for Fatima and her accomplices before successfully tracking the syndicate in Kano state while attempting to collect a N20 Million ransom .

“Following the incident, I immediately mobilized teams of FSARS personnel led by the Commander, CSP Ibrahim O. Mohammed, to swing into action for possible rescue of the victim and arrest of suspects.

” Tentacles within and outside Maiduguri Metropolis were spread with the aid of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

“On 21st September, 2018 at about 1950hrs, two (2) members of the syndicate, (1) MOHAMMED SHEHU MUSA ALIAS ALHAJI SHANA and (2) MUKTAR GONI SHUAIBU ALIAS BANA, both of Bulumkutu area, Maiduguri.

-Were arrested in KANO at the point of collection of the N20,000,000 ransom.

” Instant investigation led FSARS detectives to ALBARKA GUEST INN ALONG BAGA ROAD, MAIDUGURI where one FATIMA MOHAMMED (f) of Bulumkutu area, Maiduguri the same woman that abducted the victim at the school is lodged.

“She was arrested in possession of the four (4) years old victim.The rescued victim was handed over to the parents after medical examination.

“All the suspects confessed to the crime and claimed to have done so for the love of money.

“Manager of the Guest Inn is also apprehended.

” A Nigerian military officer of the rank of Major (names withheld for investigation purpose) who accommodated the female suspect in the Guest Inn is being looked for.

“Pertinent to mention that the said Fatima Mohammed who was pregnant at the time she kidnapped the minor, gave birth to a baby boy in the Guest Inn while keeping the victim on 21/09/2018.” The Borno Police revealed  in a statement.

The police also rescued the son of another APC party Chairman in Askira- Uba Local government area of Borno state from another school in Maiduguri .

” The Command promptly deployed FSARS/Sundry teams on aggressive patrol of Maiduguri township, Show of Force and to block exit points from Maiduguri township.

– Culprits apparently sensed danger and hurriedly abandoned the victims after about five (5) hours and fled.

– The victim was rescued and released to family.” The police said .
