Obiano Didn’t Order Arrest Of Umueri People – Palace Secretary

Governor Willie Obiano of Anaembra state never ordered any unlawful arrest of Umueri people by the police as rumored in some quarters people of Umueri in Anambra East local government area of the state.

A statement by the Palace Secretary of Umueri Mr.Tochukwu Henry Chidebelu said that the false alarm trending on social media by mischief makers, alleging that Umueri people were being arrested by the police on the orders of the Governor was not only malicious but misleading and falsehood capable creating unnecessary tension in the community.

He said that the President General of Umueri Community Chief Pius Okonkwo, and entire people of Umueri were very furious an bitterly over the rumor, condemning the activities of mischief makers who wanted to disrupt or thwart the existing peace in the area.

“We condemned in strongest terms the rumor making round in the social media, and said there was no iota of truth in it. Then he pleaded and directed me to make this following clarification and put the records straight”.

According to the statement, ” Umueri General Assembly (UGA) is not aware of any unlawful arrest of Umueri people by the police on the orders of the Governor. That being an Umueri person does not confer immunity on you if you’re involved in any crime”.

“That UGA shall always stand up to resist any act of intimidation of any Umueri person, whether by the police, the Army nor any other person no matter who he/she is. That if any Umueri person has committed any crime and  was arrested,  that should not mean that every Umueri person is being arrested as erroneously speculated”.

“That both Aguleri and Umueri people are committed to ensuring peace within and around the both communities. So the UGA disassociates the entire Umueri people from this malicious lies paddled by the enemies of Umueri community. And finally, that UGA advice those peddling this false and wicked lies to desist from it forthwith, or risk being reported to the police” he stated.
