Information reaching 247ureports.com revealed that Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has vowed to deal with ex Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Gen. Azubuike Onyeabo Ihejirika over his refusal to back him during the last governorship election in the state.

Sources told our correspondent that the governor has not forgiven the ex Army Chief for what he described as embarrassment meted to him and his entourage at Ihejirika’s  Ovim country home, Isuikwuato local government, during the campaign period.

Ihejirika was said to have thoroughly embarrassed Ikpeazu and his entourage which included the then Speaker of the House of Assembly and now deputy governor, Chief Ude Oko Chukwu, and leading members of the PDP who came to plead for his support. The retired soldier, who was believed to have nursed a governorship ambition during the last election, was said to have told Ikpeazu that he won’t support his ambition. PDP chieftains alleged that he threw his weight behind the APGA candidate, Dr. Alex Otti and ensured that he won in Isuikwuato and the four other local government areas of Abia North zone.

The PDP led by its state chairman, Senator Emma Nwaka, a native of Isuikwuato local government, accused Ihejirika of intimidating members of the party during the governorship poll, but a community leader in the area dismissed the allegation as laughable, and insisted that people like Nwaka, Ogele and other PDP leaders cannot win elections in their wards because of non performance.

As part of the plot to deal with the ex Army Chief, Ikpeazu was alleged to have vowed that the honourable member representing Ihejirika’s native Isuikwuato state constituency, Hon. Uloma Onuoha would only retain her seat over his dead body. True to the governor’s alleged vow, the lawmaker was booted out in bizarre judgment by the Appeal Court sitting at Owerri Division which declared the PDP candidate, Hon. Chukwudi John Ogelle, be sworn.  Abia Government House sources told 247ureports.com that the deal which ‘returned a favourable judgment’ to Ogele, was coordinated by the Deputy Governor, Chief Ude Oko Chukwu who is an integral part of the plot to spite Ihejirika.

Though criticisms have greeted the judgment which turned an election lose to a winner, 247ureports.com gathered that there have been wild celebrations in the camp of the state PDP over the declaration of Ogele who apparently lost the election.

According to a chieftain of APGA in the state, “This is bizarre, what happened in the Isuikwuato state constituency House of Assembly elections? Is it true that the man that lost at the elections and the election petition tribunal has now been returned as the winner? Is it true that the governor vowed to replace the woman elected to spite General Ihejirika who supported the woman?

247ureports.com further gathered that other plans have been set in motion to ensure that Ihejirika is cut to size if he dares make ‘noise’ over the affairs of the state.

“The woman is innocent; she has been cooperating with the PDP in the House of Assembly. In fact, we pity her. But she lost her seat to show Ihejirika that he is a nobody in politics. This is just a tip of the iceberg; we will surely deal with Ihejirika. This is politics, not Army job. If he doesn’t take time, the governor will ensure he is taken to the international Criminal Court to face charges for what he committed as Chief of Army Staff. We are watching him.”

  1. Woh!

This type of repressive, vindictive and primitive politics should not be encouraged in any part of the Igbo nation. How can we allow what we preach and fight against to take place in our neck of the wood?

Honestly,it is wrong for that woman who won an election in the Isikwuato constituency to lose her seat because she belong to the same place with the retired General Ihejirika who did not throw his weight behind the Abia Governor during the gubernatorial election.

I hope this is not true. If it is, the Governor should know that he has stepped on the feet of so many progressively minded ndi-Igbo in the polity. Period.

  2. Those judges that allowed themselves to be used to pervert justice should be held responsible for this rape of justice. N50m! to sell their conscience, integrity & reputation they built over the years?; and robbed the woman of her hard-earned victory at the polls. This is man’s inhumanity to man.
President Buhari must not allow these judges escape his corruption cleansing clutch. The NJC, the president of the appeal court, human rights bodies & the women’s groups must ensure that the woman’s mandate is restored.
    God forbid bad thing!
