Ambassador Chris Cuta, The Canadian High commissioner to Nigeria has taken a stringent measure to addressing the loopholes that derailed the education sector in the state has assured to intervened in some sectors in order to proffer solution to dwindling of the education system, Cuta stated this when they condole the Government of Nasarawa state over the killings of security operatives in the state recently.
Chris Cuta sympathies with the entire people of the state for the incidence,The country representative to Nigeria aver that the existing relationship with Nasarawa state Government remains cordial with Canadian Government,Adding that Canadian Government is ready to aid the Government of Nasarawa in other sectors of the state for development to thrift.
He further buttress that Canadian Government have the interest to intervened in the education sector through the training of teachers,Agriculture,mining and Revenue generation,The high commissioner applauded the state Governor for given impetus to Good Governance,Accountability and prudent management of tax-payers fund.
The state Governor,Umaru Tanko Al-Makura eulogized Ambassador Cuta for sympathizing with the people of the state,adding that the relationship between Canadian Government and Nasarawa state will stand the taste of time,saying his administration’s critical priority is intervention on the provision of basic infrastructures to the people of the state.
He stated that his administration also succeeded in restoring the confidence of the people of the state who were sidelined hitherto from basic facilities years after creation, noting that total transformation of the education sector remains the cardinal objective of the CPC regime, stating that schools were renovated while many classrooms were constructed with an aim of overhauling public schools in the state.
Al-Makura said the state Government has diverted it attention towards improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state, Other areas he stated also include the restructuring of Land Reforms through the reorganization of Nasarawa Geographic Information System (NAGIS) Saying the state Government is taking the advantage of closeness to the FCT to generate IGR in spite of the meager allocation accrue to the state from the federation account.
The Governor appealed to the Canadian Government to assist Nasarawa state Government in the area of education, waste management, saying waste management is a nuisance to resident of Karu and its environs,saying efficient waste management approach is needed to tackle the situation,He also appealed to Canadain embassy to give utmost attention to Agriculture which he said is the predominant occupation of the people of Nasarawa state,Others areas that needed the intervention according to him also includes Health and Transport sector.
