His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has extended special Yuletide greetings to all aged persons in the state and in that regard has directed that special Christmas presents and cash gifts be extended to all aged persons in the state from the age of 75 years and above.
This move is in line with government’s resolve and commitment to cater for the welfare and wellbeing of all in the state, particularly the aged and vulnerable amongst us.
According to Governor Dickson: ” we must give special care to the elderly and vulnerable in our midst because they too are important members of our society and we must show that we truly care.
To this end, government has decided to treat the issue of caring for the aged in our society as a matter of state policy, which must be given the desired attention and commitment that it deserves. Henceforth, the aged and elderly in our state from the age of 75 years and above will benefit from a monthly stipend from government which will be handed out to them to support their upkeep and wellbeing.
Similarly, His Excellency, has approved the construction of a befitting old peoples home in the state to afford those who do not have the means or people to stay at home to look after their aged parents.
Government once again wishes to reassure Bayelsans of its commitment to their welfare and well-being at all times.
