As President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria continues his nationwide tours of some flood affected states, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has so far registered 53, 489 Internally Displaced People (IDPS) in Delta and Anambra States, in South-South and South-Eastern Nigeria respectively.
Early in the morning before the arrival of President Jonathan in one of the camps in Asaba, Delta State, Reliefs and Rehabilitation officials of NEMA confirmed that 28, 764 internally Displaced People were registered in 11 camps of the 14 affected local government councils in the state. At least 11 pregnant women were successfully delivered of their babies in the camps with the help of paramedics.
Also in Anambra State, the NEMA rescue officers confirmed the registration of 24, 721 Internally Displaced People in 21 established camps of the six affected Local Government Councils (two were completely submerged). A pregnant Woman also delivered a set of triplet in one of the camps (three boys).
