It was a complete melodrama at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly as the Secretary, Yakubu Ahmed Ubangari and Usman Sarki Ahmed , Consultant of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education confesses for their involvement in the over N1bn furniture contract awarded by the state Government.
The Secretary of the Board,Yakubu Ahmed,The Governor’s in -law was reported for conspiring in signing checks of N282,781,855.00 meant for the phantom company, while the Consultant who was masquerading as the Acting Manager of U.S.A,A company owned by Usman Sarki Ahmed,A family friend to the chief executive was also said to siphoned N700m.
The lawmakers frowned at the content of the Memorandum of the Understanding sign between Nsubeb and the furniture firm, saying the MoU gave room for the dirty deal,“The MoU is a conduit pipe for siphoning public fund, said the six members of the House committee on Petition and Public complain
Hon.Anthony Obande, A Member representing Doma south, PDP described Nsubeb as cesspool of corruption, He further added that “Nsubeb is dearth during the time of the present Executive Chairman, and we cannot allow this state to be tumbledown by some few, Said Obande.
The committee exonerated the Chairman as a person with impeccable credential stating that the only hiatus of the chairman was the content of MoU which allow for fraudulent act to be committed.
The House on petition and public complain also exposed that the consultant collected a check of over N120m, Is also a public servant, it was unfolded that the said Sarki is an employee of the Nasarawa State Polytechnics Lafia.
The consultant denied having connection with USA, which is Usman Sarki Ahmed but the consultant ended up saying is clean, Honorable Orogu said it was a total conspiracy.
“In spite of money release over N137m was over spend as from 17/3/2012 to 3/2013,Hon.Francis Orogu said all the documents of contracts awarded since the inception of the current Executive of Nsubeb is with the House of Assembly.
The committee chairman, Hon.Muhammed Okpede PDP representing Doma North while ruling on the findings of the committee suspended the embattled consultant, The Secretary and Consultant is no longer news are leaving fat in the board, It was reliably gathered that almost all projects of Nsubeb are shared between the state Governor, The consultant and the board secretary, They decide on who Nsubeb contracts should be awarded to.
