OSOGBO — Tensions have escalated in Osun State following the late-night arrest of an alleged security impersonator involved in a violent attack on the Accord Party Chairman for Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Hon. Adeyinka.
According to local accounts and viral video footage circulating online (https://x.com/emmaikumeh/status/2087743801808785498/video/1), Hon. Adeyinka was targeted and ambushed by a group of armed operatives posing as police personnel. The politician was reportedly rescued from his assailants following a high-speed chase by the security detail attached to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.
During the initial encounter, security operatives apprehended two suspects at the scene, while another assailant fled into nearby bushland.
However, local vigilantes and security details tracked and apprehended the remaining suspect late Wednesday night after he emerged from hiding in the brush.
The arrest comes amidst mounting complaints from political parties and civil society groups regarding political intimidation, violent clashes, and unauthorized security sweeps across various local government areas in Osun State.
State police authorities have not issued a formal statement on the Odo-Otin incident or the status of the arrested suspects at the time of publication.
