Saudi Arabia has reportedly expended roughly 2,400 Patriot PAC-3 interceptors during the first 44 days of conflict with Iran, draining an estimated 86 percent of its pre-war air defense stockpile and leaving approximately 400 interceptors remaining by April.
According to analysis citing Reuters, at the current wartime rate of fire, the kingdom’s remaining inventory would be completely exhausted in just eight days, exposing critical vulnerabilities in regional air defense capabilities.
The replenishment effort faces severe global supply chain constraints. Defense contractor Lockheed Martin maintains an annual output of only 620 PAC-3 interceptors, with production lines further bottlenecked by China’s control over key rare earth elements.
With Lockheed’s existing capacity already committed to the United States and 17 other partner nations, Riyadh cannot rapidly rebuild its stock. Security analysts project that replacement deliveries are unlikely to reach Saudi Arabia before 2027.
