Explosions were reported on Sunday night in Sirik, a port county on Iran’s Hormozgan coast, with claims that a US fighter jet struck an anti-ship cruise missile launcher and wounded members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Neither Washington nor Tehran had confirmed the strike or any casualties when this report was filed.

The claim spread through war-monitoring accounts on social media, which said residents heard three explosions and that ambulances were seen heading to the area. One analyst account cited a Telegram channel and a second account that shared a location it said was the launcher’s. 247ureports.com could not verify the reports of wounded IRGC personnel, the aircraft involved or the damage, and no photographs or official statements have been published.

The report echoes an earlier one. On October 21, an Israeli broadcaster reported explosions in Sirik and claimed that US forces had struck an anti-ship missile launcher aimed at vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, and market analysts noted at the time that first reports from this theatre have often been denied, reattributed or downgraded. The IRGC political deputy said in response that Iran would target internet cables in the strait if its infrastructure was attacked.

The area has been hit before. The US struck IRGC air defences, radar, maritime assets and mine-laying sites near the strait in early September, and Iran said that strike hit a wedding party in Kuhestak, in Sirik county, killing at least four people and wounding more than 50. The US military has said its strikes are aimed at Iranian assets that threaten commercial shipping, as the US naval blockade of Iranian ports and Iran’s own controls in Hormuz continue and ships come under attack in the Gulf.

The claim is plausible in that context but remains unconfirmed, and US Central Command has not said whether it carried out a strike. Tehran has not commented.
