ABUJA, Nigeria — Activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has launched a fresh attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring: “Nigerians love to pretend they do not know that Tinubu is a crook who appointed another well-mentored crook, Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff”.

Sowore said he does not understand why Nigerians would think Femi Gbajabiamila acted alone in allegedly collecting a ₦400 million bribe to create what he described as a fake government agency.

According to Sowore, Nigerians already know Gbajabiamila’s history in Atlanta, where he alleged Gbajabiamila stole clients’ money while practicing as a lawyer. He also claimed that Tinubu’s past in Chicago was tied to drug trafficking and a major forfeiture case.

Sowore argued that Nigerians should stop believing Tinubu only just discovered he had “a thief” beside him, insisting that Tinubu knows Gbajabiamila very well because, in his words, “birds of the same feather don’t need introductions.”

Sowore further questioned whether the real issue is not simply what Gbajabiamila is capable of, but whether the entire Tinubu government is, in his words, operating an institutionalized syndicate where fictitious councils are tolerated until they become public liabilities.

The firebrand activist argued that the creation of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC)—which the Presidency has vigorously disowned as a fraudulent setup—could not have bypassed multiple regulatory, banking, and secretarial layers without top-level complicity within the presidential villa.

The Presidency, through its spokespersons, has since dismissed the bribery allegations as a coordinated smear campaign. Executive statements emphasize that the primary accuser behind the ₦400 million claim, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, is an uncertified con artist facing an active eight-count criminal charge for forgery and impersonation. Government loyalists maintain that the administration’s swift move to hand the matter over to security agencies demonstrates its commitment to transparency rather than cover-ups.

Political observers note that this latest outburst by Sowore further solidifies his long-standing, uncompromising opposition to the current administration. It also highlights how deeply the PFIPC scandal is being weaponized by opposition figures to challenge the integrity of the nation’s highest political office.
