The presiding judge, Justice Deinde Dipeolu, handed down the verdict after ruling that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt. Ariket was found guilty on multiple counts, including conspiracy, unlawful possession, and aiding and abetting the illegal exportation of 1.595 kilograms of cocaine to Saudi Arabia. The court ordered that her 15-year jail term will run concurrently, ending years of intense law enforcement scrutiny since the initial interception of the narcotics.

The legal saga stems from the initial arrest of Ariket’s co-conspirator, Odeyemi Omolara, also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Omolara was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) while attempting to board a flight to Saudi Arabia with the cocaine concealed in a false bottom of her luggage. Following her arrest, Omolara confessed that Ariket was the primary supplier and mastermind behind the illicit shipment, leading to her own trial and subsequent 25-year prison sentence.

Lavish Lifestyle Halts Imprisonment

The federal court’s final verdict has triggered intense discussion across social media platforms, heavily contrasting the socialite’s criminal conviction with her public persona. Prior to her sentencing, Ariket was prominently known for hosting extravagant high-society gatherings in Lagos. Images and videos from her lavish 60th birthday celebration had circulated widely online, prompting widespread public commentary on the stark contrast between her luxury lifestyle and her involvement in international narcotics trafficking.
