JOS, PLATEAU – Despite President Bola Tinubu’s recent pledge to secure Plateau State, the region remains a slaughterhouse, with over 50 residents murdered in a fresh wave of violence.
The killings began just hours after the President left the state following a “solidarity visit” where he promised to deploy advanced surveillance and end the cycle of blood. Instead of peace, the communities of Bassa, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi have seen 14 separate attacks in just five weeks.
Broken Promises
The failure to protect citizens is glaring. While the President talks of “Renewed Hope” and orders security agencies to “scour the forests,” gunmen continue to wipe out entire families and pregnant women in their homes. Residents say the military presence remains reactive, often arriving only after the killers have escaped.

A Deadly Gap
For the people of Plateau, the administration’s rhetoric has not translated into safety. With over 50 lives lost since the President’s personal intervention, the government’s inability to stop the carnage highlights a total collapse of the promised security for lives and property.
