The recent judgement of the Appeal Court ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to ensure the participation of the Action People’s Party (APP ) takes part in the 2027 general election has been described as a vindication of the party by the judicial arm of government.
Recall that there was a suit praying the Court to deregister the APP which the Appeal Court ruled in favor of the party insisting that INEC should ensure that the party takes part in the general elections.
According to the Chairman of the party Chief Chijioke Okeke ;
“The judgement is a welcome development and it goes to show that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man”
“We as a political party are delighted by this development and we salute the Appeal Court for this landmark judgement”
Okeke further dismissed claims in some quarters that the suit has adversely affected the fortunes of the party noting that the membership and structure of the party is intact as members are brazing up for the coming election.
“Our party support base is intact and we have been welcoming defectors from other political parties and soon we shall commenced the conduct of our primary elections for the state and National Assemblies ”
“Our party has presence in all the states of the federation and as it stands now we are good to go in the coming elections ”
“I also congratulate the National leadership of the party and Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu the leader of the party for holding fort in the party and we wish to reassure the party of our continuous loyalty and brotherhood” he said.
