Abuja, Nigeria – APC Chieftain Igbokwe Joe Igbokwe has dismissed opposition plans to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election, describing the efforts as unrealistic and laughable.
In a scanting remark, Igbokwe mocked those gathering to challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid, questioning their political strength and capacity to mount a serious challenge. “When I take a look at those who are gathering to unseat PBAT in 2027 I laugh until tears start flowing down from my eyes,” he said.
Using vivid analogies, Igbokwe underscored the perceived impossibility of the opposition’s ambition, asking: “Can you carry the Earth? Can you jump from California to Catalina Island? Can you trek from Lagos to New York?”
The APC stalwart’s comments come amid increasing political calculations and behind-the-scenes consultations by opposition figures, with discussions underway about potential coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections. However, Igbokwe’s remarks reflect growing confidence within the APC camp that President Tinubu remains politically dominant and well-positioned for another term.
Supporters of the president often point to his long political experience, party structure, and control of key political blocs as major advantages. The stage is set for a potentially heated battle for the presidency in 2027, with the opposition vowing to unite and challenge Tinubu’s re-election bid.
