Over 100 Guests Beaten To Stupor, As Owerri Town Planning Taskforce, Police Raid Disables Leader’s Hotel

Recreational spaces designed for men to relax and relieve physical tension located within Control Post,Owerri,Imo State known as Dis&Dat Hotels were on Monday 29th April,2024 witnessed rowdy session as Owerri Capital Development Authority,OCDA Taskforce raided the hospitality industries.

Eye witnesses stated that the OCDA Taskforce who came with men of Nigeria Police Force entered Dis&Dat Hotels both the one on Law Nwankwo Street and Owerri-Onitsha Road in “commando style” at about 1pm beating and arresting guests and staffers of the Hotels.

A lady who works in one of the Hotels (name withheld) told newsmen that Police arrested many of their guests and staffers,carting away their valuables.

She stated that Police told her to stay back so as to inform the Hotels Chief Executive Officer what transpired.

While she showed journalists a demand notice given by OCDA to keep for her Principal.

When contacted CEO of Dis&Dat,Dr. Stanley Nwachukwu expressed shock that OCDA invaded his outfits without serving him pre-notice.

Dr. Nwachukwu who is also the South East All Progressives Congress,APC Chairman for Special Citizens blamed OCDA for not following due-process.

He stated that he is yet to ascertain the level of damage on his property as he is currently in Abuja for an official assignment.

Meanwhile,a Senior Staff of OCDA,Mrs. Adaugo Opara confirmed the incident accepting that pre-notice was not served to the Hotels.

She stated that OCDA does not have time to issue notice before clamping down illegal structure.

Mrs. Adaugo also confirmed that those arrested are currently in Police custody,Imo State Police Command,Owerri.

When contacted,the Police Public Relations Officer,Imo State Command,ASP Henry Okoye stated that he can only react after hearing from the Hotels Manager.
