Soludo For Continuity, SFC, a sociopolitical group currently drumming for support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s continuity in office has risen in defence of Governor Soludo’s decision to enforce traditional rulers’ law in Anambra state.
Critics had condemned Soludo’s actions in threatening to suspend all the traditional rulers in the state who conferred chieftaincy titles on some indigenes of the state who the state government considered as opposition parties, saying that such a hammer was to cow down such opposition parties ahead of the November 2025 governorship election in the state.
But the SFC in a tacit  press statement issued yesterday in Onitsha, by its Chairman, Ugoeju Dr Mike Ikegulu FWACP, blasted such opponents who are against the enforcement of traditional ruler’s law In the state. SFC queried: “is it the duty of the Hon Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Tonycollins Nwabunwanne to do the job of the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Neni.? It’s much ado about nothing”.
According to SFC, ” the basic requirement of sending the name of whoever that the Traditional Ruler wants to confer chieftaincy title to Anambra state government was flagrantly breeched. There is a code of conduct for the Traditional Institution in the state which stipulates that anyone that would receive a title from a traditional Ruler must first have his bio data submitted to the office of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for vetting and scrutiny before the festival”.
“Apology of the Traditional Ruler will silence those defending the indefensible and send some signals to others. The issue is whether the law was followed to the letter. Did the Igwe in question and his palace comply? We cannot enthrone impunity in the state”.
“Some aspects of the law protect the sanctity of the Traditional Institutions and prevent usurpers from destabilising the peace of a community. The truth is that the way Anambra State Traditional Ruler’s law is structured, makes the institutions part of the government of the day”.
“The Igwes are civil servants of sorts receiving salaries under the state. They can not even travel out of their domain without the knowledge of the state government. That underpins the strategic position they occupy and how highly placed in the hierarchy of Government”.
“The Igwe would have scoured a high social and political milage if he had submitted the name of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah as required by law and the state government rejects his conferment of chieftaincy title”.
” Laws are made to be obeyed and not sacrificed on the Altar of Politics. Once those in Traditional Institutions are allowed to take laws into their hands, being manipulated by politicians, anarchy and break down of law and order follows. A Society without order is bound to go down in disorder”.
“Suspension of an irate Traditional Ruler is not a matter of Politics but that of flouting laid down rules and regulations.
Governor Soludo Second Term does not come in here because what he has on ground as testament of archievment for Ndi Anambra In Two years guarantees him a solid passage For Continuity”.
“Gov Charles Chukwuma Soludo,  a gift to Ndi Anambra. We’re fully in support of his second tenure. Soludo is here. Join the bandwagon of SFC”.
