Information coming out of Anambra state indicates the Gubernatorial exercise slated for later in the year has started heating up polity. This is as would-be aspirants have begun aligning themselves against parties primaries and the state wide general elections.
Presently, on the lips and minds of the populace within the numerous communities expect the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo to have an easy walk through to victory at the polls both at the party primaries and general election.
This notion is shared across parties lines.
However cursory investigation conducted by 247ureports indicate that so od the would-be Gubernatorial candidates have begun to set their eyes and attacks on the former CBN Governor. Some have gone the extent of employing social media agents to cast aspersions on the person of the former CBN governor.
Top on the list is the Senator representing Anambra south district at the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Uba under the Young Peoples Party (YPP). He was elected to the senatorial during the last round of general elections in 2019. This position is his first political office – after having tried severally and failed.
Senator Uba has shown interest in becoming the next Governor of Anambra State under the political banner of YPP. He hails from Nnewi.
Since making his gubernatorial ambition public, the Senator has pulled no stops going after the former CBN governor. To the extent, he hired online agents arming them with enough money and gusto to tarnish the image and every campaign move of the former CBN governor. This is done on a daily basis through their Facebook pages and other social media pages. This practice has continued for over one year.
Interesting enough, the former CBN governor has ignored the onslaught of near libellous attacks – and has continued on his daily activities in his preparation for the party primaries and the general election.
On the day Prof Soludo declared his interest to become the next governor of Anambra State – which was declared amidst fanfare and physical support from virtually the entire Anambra State executive council and the APGA stakeholders – the online agents of the embattled oil mogul declared the Soludo declaration was a fiasco – because the former CBN governor did not share money in the manner political thieves would do – or had done in the past. Ifeanyi Uba’s online agents filled the Facebook timelines and pages with failed attempts at ridiculing Soludo’s exhibition of fiscal responsibility.
In the meantime, residents of south senatorial district of Anambra State have been grumbling of the absence of federal presence in their communities since Senator Uba took to the seat of Senator. They make the claim that the Senator had abandoned the communities he is supposed to represent – and has joined the All Progressive Congress [APC] caucus to hobnob and to discuss his private oil business and the debt he owes AMCON.
It is expected the embattled oil mogul would campaign on his achievements and not on negative unfounded attacks on would-be opponent.
