According to sources, political supporters aligned with Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Imo State, have been deployed across national television and digital platforms to question Uzodinma’s political standing. The media push allegedly aims to portray the Imo Governor as politically weak and incapable of securing electoral victories for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State and the broader South-East region ahead of the 2027 elections.
Escalating Feud Between Power Brokers
The coordinated media strategy represents a fresh front in the deepening rift between the FCT Minister and APC state governors, led by Uzodinma in his capacity as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
The tension escalated after Uzodinma read a communique from APC governors resolving to reject any political arrangements—such as Wike’s cross-party “Rainbow Coalition”—that undermine official APC candidates in favor of opposition figures. In response, Wike’s camp has dismissed the governors’ stance, maintaining that his political network remains dedicated to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election while competing against local APC structures in state-level contests.
