A Vigilante has shot a young man called Abbati Mahmud to death at Igbo Quarters in Bauchi Metropolis headquarters of Bauchi State.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Kamal Datti Abubakar confirmed the incident to reporters yesterday in Bauchi, He said “ we have received a report about the death of a young man who was allegedly shot dead by a vigilante at igbo quarters , we have commence investigation over the incident and whoever is found guilty will be prosecuted so far we have arrested two people in connection with the incident”
Abubakar caution vigilantes against taking law in to their hands, he said they most operate within the ampit of the law if they make arrest of if they are investigating something if its above their power they should report it to the police or submit the suspect they arrest to the Police for proper investigation and prosecution.
An eye witness Yahuza Shehu Allah Gaba “ said the vigilante came to their Shop at Igbo Quarters around 8 pm in the night , they said they came to cu the hair of one Mubarak when they removed Mubaraks cap they discovered that he had already shave his hair, they went back and came back in large number they said they heard some people talking nonsense to them the thing led to argument the deceased took some of his juniors and kept them in one room they are eight inside the room one of the vigilante manage to open the window put his gun and shot Abbati to death we discovered over 58 gun balls in his body , One of the gun balls his someone called Aliyu in his leg and injured him .
He said we took the deceased to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital where the Doctors certified him death.
Owner of the Shop Alhaji Yahaya Magayakin Ajiya said they were shocked with the killing of the young man because when the vigilante discovered that Mubarak had shaved his hair they mobilized them selves and come back in large number where they started beating people they cut the hand of one person and injured a Woman,
Magayaki said “ we have reported the matter to the Police initially Police arrested six people over the incident but later three were released we don’t know why they were released but we will not left any stone unturned until the culprits are punish”
Meanwhile a funeral prayer of the deceased was held and he was buried according to Islamic rites amidst tears from his parents and the sympathizers.
