NASS Invasion, APC Chieftain Calls For The Overhaul Of The Security System
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Chukwuemeka Okwuonu has called for the overhaul of the security system in the country, describing the recent attack on the Senate Chambers as a national disgrace and embarrassment.
“The recent invasion of the National Assembly is a national disgrace and embarrassment and shows how porous our security system is,”Okwuonu said.
Okwuonu also said that “the issue is not about who masterminded the attack but the lapses in our security system”, adding that the attack is a clear indication that hoodlums from nowhere can equally run over the National Assembly and injure our legislators unchallenged”.
He said that setting a panel of investigation to investigate the attack is a measure in the right direction but called for a thorough investigation.
Responding to the menace of the killer herdsmen who are rampaging some parts of the country, he said that he does not believe that those who are perpetrating these killings are the real herders rather a spillover of the dismantling of the Boko Haram insurgents in the North East.
“It is possible that when these insurgents were dismantled in the North East they became dislocated and looked for other locations in the country to launch their attacks,” he said.
