The Road To Kiev: Fixture By Fixture Analysis Of The Champions League Quarter Finals (Part 4)
Barcelona vs As Roma (Cont’d):
In the third part of this series, we examined the history behind this fixture. Today, we will run through the current forms of both teams and how good they are to play in the Semis.
Barcelona have won 4 and drawn just 1 of their last five La Liga matches thereby establishing an 11 point lead at the top of the summit while Roma though having the same form in their last five Serie A matches sit third on their league table with just 59 points.
Both teams have played 8 matches in the UCL this season with Barcelona boasting of 5 wins and 3 draws while Roma have managed 4wins, 2 draws and 2 defeat. They both finished top of their respective groups.
With both UCL and League goals combined, Barcelona’s Talisman Lionel Messi stands at 31 goals while Roma’s forward Edin Dzeko has 17 goals.
Comparing the figures of these two teams, Barcelona unsurprisingly hold the advantage going into this tie but Roma will be looking to repeat what Juventus did last season by absorbing the threat of Messi thereby denting Barcelona’s goal scoring chances and finishing off every single chance that comes their way.
What will be the outcome of this fixture? It remains to be seen….
