Information available to 247ureports.com from competent sources within the presidential villa indicate intrigues within the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress [APC] are rife and noxious to the continued smooth administration of the presidency. Available information indicates a brewing divide within the presidency among the politically career minded cabinet members who have opted to carve a path for themselves to the seat of the President against the presidential elections of 2019. This is as many within the presidency view President Buhari as a lame duck President.

According to our source who is usually reliable on face value, during the long medical vacation embarked upon by the President of the federal republic of Nigeria to London, a group of upwardly minded politicians within the APC convened several closed door meetings in Kaduna on the behest of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El Rufai. The meetings were set to discuss the eventual transition of power from President Buhari to a person of their choice. “Someone within their comfort zone”.

President Mohammadu Buhari

247ureports.com is not certain of the list of attendees at the series of meetings but our source indicates the meeting were attended by a majority of the North East and North West APC governors along with top officials of the APC and Buhari administration. The Attorney General of the federation was mentioned as having attended many of the meetings.

The resolutions reached that the meetings called for the replacement of the President by a much younger and vibrant personality. The call according to our source, was based on a fear and/or concerned nursed by the northern APC politicians of an impending defeat of the APC and Buhari in 2019 if the situation is allowed to spiral towards election without the necessary controls. They believe a younger and more vibrant personality will help assure a fighting chance in 2019. Specifically, the Governor of Kaduna was tapped as the likely candidate to replace the President. The Attorney General was also tapped as a top choice to deputize the then acting president should the President decides to resign or meets death before the 2019 elections.

The Governor Zamfara had been the original choice to deputize the acting president on the event the President dies. This decision was made during the first medical vacation by the President to London. From available indications, the group changed their choice to Malami.

Attorney General, Abubakar Malami

According to our source, a series of scenarios were mapped and analyzed. It is unclear what the final decisions taken by the assemblage of northern politicians. One certainty is the decision to work towards unseating the President before the 2019 election.

It is to this decision that our source explained that the call to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra [IPOB], Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Attorney General of the federation, Malam Malami was made immediately following the return of the ailing President from London. The source pointed to the silence of the Attorney General on the call for re-arrest while the President was away from the country. He explained that immediately the President arrived the country and resumed work from home, the Attorney General officially filed a suit seeking for the re-arrest of the Biafran leader.

Our source explained that the suit was not filed in good faith. The “Attorney General’s intention is to set the President up for trouble” said the source who explained further that the Attorney General and the group of APC politician wants to create crisis for the President. “They want him to re-enter the quagmire of the Biafra tussle again especially since the Arewa Youth Quit Order had been reversed”. The source continues that the cabinet members have since resolved on the need for the President to avoid the unnecessary crisis surrounding the Biafra issue. “Malami’s re-introduction of this matter is clear mischief”.

247ureports.com is not clear the path of action the presidency will tow on the suit for the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu. It remains uncertain if the Attorney General will have the last say on the re-arrest but our source insists that the call stems out of a plan to unseat the president before the 2019 elections.
