In a special interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Navdeep Suri, the India’s ambassador to Dubai elaborated his opinion on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by stating:
“India considers Dubai port as the largest hub in the region. Two countries’ relations are on the level of strategic. India also considers as its duty to support UAE’s interests in the Gulf and Red Sea.”
He also went on to say: “The Gwadar Port development with China’s investment would never damage UAE’s economy. And this I believe will result in failure and a great loss.”
Pakistan in cooperation with China’s $50 billion investment planned to develop a transit hub in Gwadar Port located in southwestern Pakistan near the Indian border which can be considered as a huge blow to the UEA, Bahrain, and India.
The Gwadar Port is expected to be used by China for its strategic accesses to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean- through Karakorum highway. China aims to station its marines there to deal with contingencies.
The Gwadar Port occupies a great geographical location, according to experts, because its proximity to the Arabian Sea gives China and Central Asian countries access to the Gulf and the markets of the Middle East.
