As Special Tasks Force Seals Venue; blocks Government House in PH.

The unending drama and conflicts in Nigeria’s largest opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party {PDP },intensified on Wednesday as Police Special Tasks Force from Abuja took control of the venue of its planned National Convention in Port Harcourt.

The police squad arrived the venue at about 4am Wednesday; sealing all the roads leading to Shark Stadium, the convention ground.

The action follows a late order issued on Tuesday by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to the Inspector General to stop the convention in Port Harcourt.

Another catchment of heavily armed policemen also took over one of the entrances leading to the Government House in PH as surveillance helicopters hover all around Port Harcourt’s skylines.

PDP leaders are forced into an emergency meeting with the Chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee and Governor, Rivers State; Nysome Wike, inside the Government House.

The meeting at the behest of the National Executive Committee of PDP  comprising the BoT, Caretaker Committee, National Assembly Members and Governors, is to consider to postpone the convention by another 90 days.

It is also to expand the life span of the caretaker committee for the period while the party continues negotiation with Ali Modu Sheriff.

PDP’s convention is effectively stalled; much to the disappointment of delegates who had travelled from far and near for the convention.
